Thanks for the step by step advice. A few questions though. You put the fish directly into buckets of water, not in individual fish bags? You recommend removing the substrate from the tank as well? Would it be ok to leave the substrate with a little water in the tank? I guess it would be lighter...

Will the tank really cycle if I keep 3/4 of the water. It will be like a big water change. The tank does have some coraline growth that we plan on removing before transporting so it won't die off and contaminate the tank.

Any other advice?

Thanks for the posts since I last checked. I have been to Salem and back. The tank was beautiful, lots and lots of corals and green algae. Lots of coraline growth as well. It was blazing hot in the house and the digital thermometer read 84 degrees. The man said the thermometer didn't work that...

I had a clown jump also. I did not leave my lid open, but there were small openings at the back of the tank for equipment and he got out one of those. Sorry for your loss!

I have never priced MH lights before. I only have compacts on my current 37 gal. Wow, they are spendy. It looks like the bulbs are really spendy to replace as well. How often do they burn out? Is there a big range in quality of MH units and what would you recommend for a 120 gal reef?
