    I'm new myself to this world but what I'm guessing is you rushed things a little, as far as i know (and i don't know that much) when you put live rocks, especially if you put alot at once there are peeks of ammonia this is what might have killed your fish if the live rocks had not finished...

    hmmm just realized this could be the wrong forum to try and id it, thing is that my time is limited since its in a tank with no water movement don't know how much time it can live in there, might just add a little pump i have. hope someone can help me out soon.

    Hello all so got some new live rocks today went home and cleaned them a bit as i was doing so i noticed something move rapidly under a rock and this is what it was. could this be some kind of baby spider crab? can i add it to my cycling tank, will it survive?

    alright advice taken, regarding sand I unfortunately cant get any live sand so I'm thinking of going for a mix of sands, half of it being coral ( half only since its a Little expensive) and the other half..... well the other half i don't know. this said for burrowing sand fish, water filtering...

    yea I'm getting sand but want to get a few more live rocks for the base of the aquascaping, seems it reproduces quickly if not dealt with but there seems to be a couple fish who feed on them.might just get rid of it like that or do you suggest i yank it out now?

    Will do, i was thinking of making a 5cm layer of coral sand half thin and half medium grind this should allow the sand to quickly become living and act as a further filter, 5cm enough?

    yea the grid is metal I put it together roughly as test run, will def. build something more solid later, that does appear to be salt, gonna have to mix the water up a bit or simply lower the circulation pump so as to pushes water on the bottom and clean it up. having used tap water for the mix...

    Thank you. Turns out you were right (did the test wrong the first time) now I get a result of; Mag.1800 mg/l - 500 mg/l cal. and I get a nice round result of 1300 mg / L
