Flatworm Issue. Need some input here

I used FWE about a year ago, I literally had millions of brown and red flatworms in my 90. I had to use the entire shipment in two doses on the same day, but it did the job and they haven't returned. It's a good product.

    F@#$#ng Red slime

Thanks shep. I actually like my CPR stuff, I have an overflow and skimmer from them both are very quiet, but I feel my skimmer should be pulling out more crud. After a couple years of running, I started getting red slime and had a flatworm outbreak - both signs of excess nutrients. I am still...

    F@#$#ng Red slime

I was battling red slime for a while. I think my skimmer sucks (CPR) because I very rarely have to empty the collector. I decided to go the refugium route to have the macro outcompete the slime by consuming the excess nutrients. End result: my macro's are growing quickly and the red slime has...

    Training anthias

I just got 3 anthias a couple of days ago. In accordance with their picky reputations, 2 of them eat only mysis and plankton or frozen brine ( both w/Zoe). My largest (and potential alpha male) doesn't find these foods too interesting. He's eaten a very small amount compared to the other 2, only...

PLEASE!!! Help with my new anthias

I just got 3 anthias, none of which ate the first day. The next day I tried formula 1, which they didn't eat, then mysis mixed with plankton, which they tried and spit out. I ran out and bought frozen brine and added a few drops of Zoe, 2 of them ate them like mad, but the largest (possibly...

    Flat Worms

I had a big problem with them in my 90. Find Flatworm Exit (Salifert). I only found it online. I dosed the recommended amount for about an hour, then ran carbon for a day to remove the toxin they release upon dying. The next day, there were a few survivors, so I very heavily dosed the tank...

    Drilling Glass

I used a Dremmel with diamond tipped engraving bits to slowly grind through a 20 gal. It was slow, but worked really well. I think those diamond tipped hole bits are rather expensive, but I got a set of 20 engraving bits for $6 at Menards.

    LED moonlighting pics?

I just got mine finished a couple days ago, with alot of help from the board.

    Attn: GatorCSM

I think I can help you out. Mine works and yours is very similar to the setup Gator helped me with. (Volts=CurrentxResistance). I have 4 of the same LED's that you have, the math isn't that different from what is above. The relationship is V=IR. If you want to supply each LED with 30mA, figure...

    Attn: GatorCSM

Gator, a couple more questions. I got some 10 ohm and 15 ohm resistors (1/2 watt, 5% tolerance). Are these the right ones? Resistors are additive, right? I figure I'd put 2 15's and 1 10 ohm resistors in a line together. That would give me 40 total, I think. So the number on the LED packaging...

    Id Sps

That's as much as I can zoom in on it, it's in the back of the tank and it is only slightly larger than 1 cm.

    Id Sps

I found this small (about 1.5 cm) sps on a plug I got when I bought some xenia. It's been buried under a field of xenia for at least 6 months and definitely wasn't there when I got it. I'm suprised I can accidentally grow sps corals. Can anyone identify it?

    Flatworm Exit success!

frozenguy: The eye is cloudy all over, and possibly a little puffy. How is this treated? What usually causes it? In this case, I know it was either the the medication (it's supposed to be reef safe, but I used a slightly higher dose), the toxin, or stress. Hopefully it goes away on its own...

Awesome. That's exactly the info I needed. I've been trying to figure it out using my old college physics book, but I still doubted my work. I will get that 35 ohm resistor installed and not worry about this thing anymore. Thanks alot.

    Flatworm Exit success!

I used Flatworm Exit yesterday on my 90gal reef. I followed the directions by removing as many of the little [hr] as I could before dosing. I have about 120gal of water in the system, so I dosed about 120 drops. After about 3 minutes, they started getting really agitated. After 20 minutes...

You seem to be the resident moonlighting electrician. I made one a couple weeks ago, but I'm afraid to run it for long periods of time, because I think I need a resistor, but don't know which or where to put it. Can you help me? Here's a quick layout. Thanks.

Any luck using a Sony Cybershot F717

I got that camera in January. There is a button on the side of the lens which adjusts the white level. Start learning the manual settings, they end up working much better than the automatic mode once youget the hang of it. This camera can take amazing pictures, good choice.

    Any electricians?

Thank you all. I will take LoneStar's advice at heart. I thought that resistors only reduced voltage, and that the Amps were more a measure of how many resistors (or LED's) could be used in the circuit. The way I figure it, all the LED's are getting 4.5 volts, and I don't need a resistor. If...
