how do i split a sponge? doi cut it and move the piece or what i want to make one into a smaller 2 so .... any help would b appreciated

i have been doing my tank for about 3 years and i also have a bearded dragon i tell you that so you know where i came up with this question... can you use calsi sand in a reef tank ? i thought it might b a good idea for the calcium and it is sand. plus it comes in cool colors. please let me know

i think he is a red legged but i got him from a friend cuz he ate all the other bottom dwellers in his tank.and i dont know if his shell is big enough but im sure he will be needing a new one soon. he is all that is in the tank. it is a standard 55 gallon tank except for one lone clown fish.
