I am planing on getting my tank filled up tomorrow and will be using live sand. The bags the live sand came in have some water in them, and my question is should the water from the bags go in to the tank with the sand or should I drain the water out of the bags as much as I can and then put...

    Saltwater

Yup as of now I have the LS (bagged) and the water (plastic trash can) ready. So it would be ok to go ahead and put the sand and water in the tank and when the rock comes, put the rock in? I always thought that I would have to wait until those three items where available to start the cycling...

I have my saltwater ready to go, but now I am waiting for my LR to come in which hopefully will be here by Monday. My saltwater is currently in a trashcan and has a Maxijet 900 circulating it with the temp at a constant 80. Will the water be fine in the trash can over the weekend? It's around...

    Powerhead's on a 38??

It's gonna be a reef tank with a couple of fish in it. I like the idea you stated..put one on top to agitate the surface and another probably around mid-way down to have a nice flow. Thanks!!

    Heating the water

I am planning on adding a ph to the fresh water, heating it up to around 79-80 degrees, and then adding salt to get the needed sg and then allowing the water to mix for a day or two to evenly distribute everything. After that, I am gonna put it in the aquarium. How does that sound?? Also, am...

    Heating the water

So I have finally made around 40 gallons of ro/di water in a rubbermaid trash can. I am getting ready to heat the water up, and a question came to mind. Should I throw a powerhead into the trashcan while the heater is on so that the water can be circulated and evenly heated??
