I came up with a similar idea, only I used a 12v pump in parallel to the 120v. I like your idea better. I would like to add a basic plug in appliance timer ( $10.00 ) at Home Depot to really,really extend the run time at set increments ( say, 30 min. on 30 min. off etc...) for extended periods...

Do you mean make a box like structure with windows? I was thinking all plate glass or arcrylic with maybe all plumbing in center. Since this is going to be furniture it must be attractive. any help would be greatly appreciated......:D

I live in an area that the power fails often. Does anyone have ideas for some sort of power back up for my tanks? I have a 150g fish only and a 55g wannabee reef.
