    Lion has trouble eating

My lights come on at 3pm MTN. I don't know what could cause the continued stress though. Water parameters are back to normal...feeding schedule and amount was outlined and understood for while I was gone...water were said to have been done but I can neither confirm nor deny they were... It's...

    Lion has trouble eating

since after my post on 9-26, I did 2 - 20gal water changes which got to 0-5ppm. Right now I'm looking at about 10ppm. I just watched lion divebomb from top of tank and dig his face in the sand. I turned on the light to look at him and he went spaztic...crashing into the rocks head first....now...

    Lion has trouble eating

Ok. Got the nitrates back to normal and lion still won't eat. It doesn't seem to even be interested anymore. I tried to offer some live rosies and even a goldfish (I know it's not the best food source but I was desperate) and he didn't even stalk. I've noticed some redness and slight swelling on...

    Lion has trouble eating

Gravity is good at 1.022; ph 8.3; ammo 0; nitrite 0; nitrate is highish but I'm fixing that now. I guess water changing is a complicated procedure for some...much like brain surgery! Thanks for your input.

    Lion has trouble eating

Thanks for your input. I feed him 2-3 times per week depending on how much he eats. I'm going to start feeding 1-2 times per week and give smaller peices. However, he would eat 2-3 silversides or one whole shrimp before I even brought him home from LFS. He's even taken fish from serpent star...

    Lion has trouble eating

Lion is about 1 yr old and I estimate 7" I fed it a small silverside on SAT and again he had problems chewing/swallowing. I could not see any growth but i could see the fish just sitting in the mouth. I tried a small piece of scallop yesterday and he didn't struggle as much but still "coughed"...

    Lion has trouble eating

Ok. So I went away for a few months and had someone taking care of my tank. I fed my lionfish one med silverside today and he had a lot of problems. He rolled it around in his mouth, coughed, and looked like he was gonna choke on it. It almost seemed like he couldn't chew it properly. I'm very...

cleaner crew with a Lion and Scorpion

I need to bulk up my cleaning crew but don't know what to add. I currently have 65G aggressive FOWLRLS with: 1 Green Brittle star 1 Turbo snail (had more but they died over time) 2 Nassarius snails I have an Emerald Crab but it is nowhere to be seen. I think the Lion might have eaten it. The...

    Extra aggressive Lionfish

Tough loss! Opposite for me though less expensive. My lion vs. her bi-color blenny and a few fire and cleaner shrimp MATCH...GAME...SET!!!

What type of lion for a 80 gal?

You could get a good sized volitan or russel's lion. maybe an additional dwarf lion too. but porcupines have been known to nip the spines off lions..just a heads up.

my tank is up but the cycle wil not start

WOW:eek: You put 18 fish into a tank the same day you set it up? Damsel are good to progress a cycle but after ammo has spiked and starts to break down. They don't create enough bio load fast enough to kick the cycle in gear IMO. Are you cycling the 90? You don't have near enough LR or LS...

    Canister Filters

You don't need to drill the tank. An overflow box hung on the back will syphon the water to the fuge/sump. I you search through these threads, you can find recommendations on size and examples of DIY overflow boxes/refuge/sumps. I don't know about the puffer but the CC could live in your...

    lionfish help

It probably isn't getting enough nutrients/vitamins to keep it's color. Silversides are good but ghost shrimp aren't IMO. I recommend to use garlic extract on the food. Mine likes it and it's healthy for them. I feed my lion raw shrimp w/o shell (like you buy at a grocery store), silversides...

    Canister Filters

I did something similar on my 30g. Swapped hang on back for a canister. I think it depends on what you keep in the tank. FOWLR? Reef set up? if reef, most people will tell you to get a regue w/sump. If no corals just fish, then the 60 rated canister should work fine as long as it turns the tank...

    stone fish replacement

Rogue/Sailfin scorpions are cool looking and relatively peaceful. Mine hangs out in his cave and what not. It looks like it has on war paint or something. I have a pic posted in the photography threads if you want to see it.

    is this ich?

I had an ich outbreak in my first tank about 6months ago. I lost all but three damsels. In fact, I still have those three damsels. they never showed signs of sickness. LFS said most damsels are immune to ich. I believe it to be true. Maybe it's just rearranging the surroundings?
