ammonia is 0.0ppm, nitrites at 1.0, nitrates are around 40-50ppm, and ph is 8.3, specific gravity is 1.026. Think it's time for a water change and if so do I have to heat the water before it goes into the tank? Only changing 5 gallons of a 20 gallon tank.

ammonia is now less than .25, nitrites are at 3.0, and nitrates are at 20-30. Should I do a water change now or wait till the nitrites go down to 0? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help! Think I'll just wait until ammonia is at 0.0, keep the critters I have, then ghost feed for a bit and then add my first fish. Wasn't planning on getting any fish until Black Friday anyway.

I have veggie flakes to feed them. I read that if there is no algae you can feed them that.

So, I have my light on now, one 65w 50/50 compact fluorescent and one 15w coral sun actinic light. I just got back from the fish store and purchased an emerald crab and 2 turbo snails. Are these a good clean up crew for now? Wanted to get shrimp but they didn't have any.

So, I just started a 20 gallon saltwater aquarium. I added 30lbs of aragonite, 25lbs of live fiji rock that is currently helping the tank get cycled. I have a 100w heater, aquaclear 70 and an airstone to circulate water. A few questions I have been considering, it is almost at the end of day 1...
