    My 55 gallon adventure

A few weeks ago I received some corals from a friend of mine. One mushroom in particular disappeared almost as soon as it was placed in the tank. I finally found it, and it appears to have grown larger. I had to move tons of rock to get to the shroom. Once I finally did, I ended up...

I'm glad the SeaClone 100 is pulling some stuff out. I don't know how this compares to other skimmate, but it looks nasty enough to me.

I'll clean the powerhead and leave it out until I need to mix the salt in. It's a 20 gallon brute.

    My 55 gallon adventure

I just replaced my the brass adapter (which caused a small leak and thus reducing pressure) that I was using to secure the 1/4" RODI tubing to the garden hose. I am using a plastic adapter specifically designed for the RODI 1/4" tubing to the garden hose. I began flushing some RODI water in a...

Thanks Flower, I'll give that a try. Just to be clear the 20 gallon trash can with 40ppm RODI water should NOT be used for future water changes? Or is that OK for now?

    My 55 gallon adventure

I just received my TDS meter in the mail and tested the RODI water I have had sitting in the 20 gallon Brute container for the past three days, and it is 40PPM. My RODI unit is brand new. My tap water is at 260 PPM. This is very disappointing. I will re-test newly made RODI water tomorrow. I...

OK, that makes sense. Thanks. I'm going to replace all the carbon now and do a 5 gallon water change for the hell of it.

Hahaha thanks everyone. I have fiberglass mesh serving as a tank cover. I don't think he can squeeze through those holes. Today I am working on cleaning the canister filter as it escaped my memory as I was doing a water change last weekend. DOH!

Next on the list will probably be a purple firefish. For a time I was seriously considering a fuzzy dwarf lionfish; however, my research has shown that they can have quite an appetite. I guess I am still undecided on that one.

Hey rlablan! I just found out the power was out due to workers in the neighborhood doing repairs. Nothing has died and everything is still thriving. I did a water test when I got home and everything is just fine. Ammonia 0 ppm Nitrites 0 ppm Nitrates approx 10/mg/L PH 8.0 Specific Gravity...

    My 55 gallon adventure

Update: I went to Vegas for three days. I had someone care for the fish while I was away; however, there was a power outage for a few hours. Since the power outage, I have had a massive outbreak of diatoms in my tank. I am quite stunned at how fast this all transpired. According to those...

I am strongly considering adding a HOB overflow box and sump to my system. Clearly pre-drilled is a better option; however, I will make due with a HOB. Since I am currently running a single Fluval 305 for filtration, would it be necessary to keep it running if I have a sump as well? From my...

Update: Added the CrapClone 100 to the tank today. Bubbles are everywhere, but it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I guess it needs a couple weeks to break in. Green Chromis are doing great.
