yes, similar I can assume from your response "unfortunately", that these are not good for my tank?

    What the heck is this?

I got a fairly good look at this last night, so here's some additional information. It's black and the body looks similar to a shrimp (several sets of legs). Probably because he/or she has been feasting on them for a couple weeks. And it's got (now, don't laugh) what appears to be very...

    What the heck is this?

Thanks for the replys. Bristleworms are generally a pinkish color...and I never really thought about a goby. But like I said, I generally see it from rock to rock. I'll keep my eye on it and see if I can get a pic.

    What the heck is this?

For the past couple weeks, there has been a strange worm in my tank that darts back and forth between the rocks. I wish I could get a picture of it, but it moves way too quickly, so I'll try and discribe it for all of you in hopes of finding out what it is. It's black, and about an 1 1/2" long...

Swapping out a rio from a Bak Pak

Thanks JustinX, I contacted CPR Aquatics and they directed me to a place called Premium Aquatics. PA said they currently don't have anything that would fit a bigger/better pump. They are working on one, but don't see it happening anytime soon. Keep me posted.

    White stuff on the glass

Thanks for the quick resonses. They were so small I couldn't tell if they spiral, but they are hard. It seems either way, they wouldn't be harmful to my tank.

    White stuff on the glass

I know this has probably been asked a few times along the way, but I wasn't sure how to search on "white things on glass". lol It appears to look like white sand that has attached to the side of the tank, and the heater. What the heck is it? Is it good/bad? I can scap (almost pick) them off...

Swapping out a rio from a Bak Pak

I'm courious about this also. JustinX, have you heard anything back about this or come up with a solution? I haven't had the luck you have. My system has been running for 6 months and I've gone through 2 Rio pumps. I have two Maxi-Jets and they appear to be a hair too big to fit in the...

    my Flame Angel passes

Well, it's sad to say, but my FA died this past Sunday. I spent alot of time nursing him back to health (he had an abrasion and swollen white lips) and I thought all was good with him. He looked great and was eating like a pig. Well I came home this Sunday only to find him trapped in the LR...

carbon filter or not to carbon filter?

I was told by my lfs, that running a carbon filter 27/7 may harm some corals and anemones. Now, talking with others, I found that many people with corals and anemones run carbon filters 24/7. Does anybody out there have an opiniun one way or the other. What am I saying...of course someone has...

problem with a new test kit

I recently picked up a Hagen master test kit. Everything works great but I had a problem with the pH test (I guess not everthing worked great). The color chart had a range of green to blue (low to high). When I tested my water, the color changed to a violet/purple. I tested it several times...

    Serpent Star attacking feather duster?

I believe it's a red serpent star. I do spot feed him/her about silversides once a week. Because this is my first experience with feather dusters I wanted to find out if there would be a problem between the two. The star could have been at the wrong place at the wrong time for me to catch...

    Serpent Star attacking feather duster?

I recently purchased two feather duster and placed them on the sandbed. When I returned from work, I noticed my serpent star had moved the one feather duster and appeared to on top of it. I quickly moved the feather duster to the top of some rocks and out of the reach of the star. It appears...

    Burned bubble tip anemone

I'm posting this thread for a friend that doesn't have access to the internet at work. It appears, last night his bubble tip anemone wrapped itself around the tank heater (300 watt). When the heater turned on, the BTA was burned. It seems some of the tenticles(?) and the top of the body were...

    Flame Angel condition worsens

Thanks Beth & Terry, I feed the fish flake and brine, which I've been soaking in Zoecon for the past week and a half. The fish "acts" normal, eats & swims like the first day I bought him 3 wees ago. The tank has been set up since Jan. 1st, 2003. I do 5% water changes weekly, with the last...
