White stuff on the glass

I know this has probably been asked a few times along the way, but I wasn't sure how to search on "white things on glass". lol
It appears to look like white sand that has attached to the side of the tank, and the heater. What the heck is it? Is it good/bad? I can scap (almost pick) them off, but it does take a little bit of an effort (not like wiping the sides of the tank).
Any ideas?

I would guess them to be little fan worms or Vermetid Snails.

Were they hard and spiral like?

Thanks for the quick resonses.
They were so small I couldn't tell if they spiral, but they are hard.
It seems either way, they wouldn't be harmful to my tank.
