    Installing a Lifegard UV Sterilizer

On my 3 tanks I have the pump attached to the eco-system in my basement. The pipe feeds up through the floor into my cabinet. My UV steralizers are in the cabinet, then to my tanks. In the cabinet, I go from PVC (from the pump) to clear plastic tubing. The tubing attaches to the UV. On the...

    VHO do you like it???

I have read that VHO's lose 25% of their output after 6 months and 50% after 9 months. I guess it depends on how much money your LFS needs. I have 3 tabks and change them (6 in 2 of them and 4 in the other one) every 9 months. Not saying that is the best, but it works for me.

I need HELP, Bar Gobie Garding EGGS

I had clown fish hatch eggs once. As appauling as this may sound to some, I had to suck them up because she was taking over the tank. She was beating everyone else up. Little psycho!

    anenome food

Brian Anemone are not a trial and error sort of thing. Besides the fact that there are a limited number of them, they are also very expensive. I give you credit for asking questions on a forum, but buy a book or two and learn about them before you buy another one. I'm not trying to sound...

    Good experience and a question

EFRANK I get all of my LR from ***************.com. I also get all of my dry goods from them. I have never been unhappy with a delivery. I especially like getting my order 1-2 days after I pay for it.

    mini reef (15 Gallon)

A friend of mine has a 10 and a 25 gal. He uses only LR and CC for filters. He has no protein skimmers and no mechanical filtration of any kind. He keeps the kH and Ca levels optimal so that the LR filters at an optimal level. The LR was taken from his 120gal after is was covered with...

    I THINK I'M SCREWED!

LOTR I don't know if you j=have the money for it, but when I moved, I had my LFS do it for me. I had two tanks (120, 90) that I had through most of med school and residency and all of that crap. In other words, they were like 8 years old. My new house had the tanks built into them (75, 90...

Yes. I started as a 'lowely' CNA. Someone has to do all of the work in a hospital ;)

    UV Sterilizer yes/no

Bluto Thanks for giving me the credit of not being a total idiot about bacteria. I would hope that, after 4 years of under-grad, 2 years of graduate, 4 years of med school, 1 year of internship, 3 years of residency, and 5 years of fellowship I know at least a little about bacteria.

    HOLLY SHIZNIT!!

I don't know if it's true, but I've read that the ink is very harmful to inverts in a closed system like a tank. Read up on it. Also, they do climb out of tanks, so sleep with one eye open ;)

    UV Sterilizer yes/no

Yikes. Didn't mean to get everybody all jazzed up. The only thing that I was stating as fact was about the bacteria, not that a UV steralizer was necessary. I've said from the beginning that everyone has an opinion, and a choice. Mine is to use a UV steralizer. For me it works great...

    UV Sterilizer yes/no

Again, opinions are like a--holes, everyone has one. In my opinion, they should be used in any tank. I have one on each of my tanks, all reef tanks. I have never had a fish or invert die of malnutrition (or die at all for that matter) since I installed them. All of my inverts are huge...

    Ecosystem method.. pros vs. cons?

I didn't mean that I have talked about eco-systems a hundred times. What I meant was that a particular thing works for me and that is why I use it, as opposed to "I know for a fact that this works or that doesn't work" when the "fact" is that someone else told them or that they read it some...

    Ecosystem method.. pros vs. cons?

PS. I only change 10 gallons a month in each tank. I have gone as long a 2.5 month with no change. My levels didn't vary at all, nitrates stayed at 0. They (eco-system) also claim that their system prevents and cures lateral-line disease. I have never had a problem with this, so I can't...

    Ecosystem method.. pros vs. cons?

I have an eco-system on each of my three tanks. Like I have said a hundred times, this is what works for me, and it may not be for everyone. The only downfall for people seems to be the price. Many suggest building their own, but for me, it was easier to just buy them. How it works is this...

    LR on the Web

I always get mine from ***************.com. They send it out the day that you order it. I have never gotten any bad rock. The rock that you get is exactly like the rock in the pictures on their web site. The rock is always loaded with critters and coraline algae. They use airborn express...
