I'd like to set it up to my hose outside because I'm renting and i don't want to tap the actual plumbing. Hallpppp what do I do?

    RO/DI Unit - which one?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to a quality, relatively high-output RO/DI unit? I'm looking to spend $200 or less. Thanks!

    Bioload

Well, I mean, I know that there are aggressive fish, some fish have special eating habits, etc., but I was talking strictly on a bioload can-my-bacterial-colony-handle-it basis.

    Bioload

Hey all, So I know about the basic one inch fish/5 gallon ratio, and am in the midst of planning out my livestock list for my up and coming 125 reef. Here's my question: how do shrimp, nudibranchs, etc affect the bioload? Do I need to factor in these critters? Thanks!

Mega-Powerful Nitrate and Phosphate Remover Replaces Skimmer, Refugium, Everything

Well... I think I'm gonna set up the skimmer and fuge -and- the scrubber... so it's there, and once I"m more comfortable, I'll shut off the skimmer and see what happens.

Mega-Powerful Nitrate and Phosphate Remover Replaces Skimmer, Refugium, Everything

I have a few questions about this, as a new reefer. Can I set this up as my initial, only filtration system (other than LR/LS) and cycle that way? Should I run a skimmer until I start to see Turf algae? Can I set it up in such a way that my overflow runs directly to the screen, then into my...

How do pods get from fuge to tank w/o going through pump?

Guess this is a stupid question, but I can't seem to conceptualize it. Someone wanna put me in my place? Thanks fishheads

Just looked up the cost of chillers.

Okay. I just didn't know if the fans would kind of not help if they didn't have a space to pull air from... I guess I could put them in the back where it's open? I don't really want to drill through the canopy though, and I feel like I need to direct the hot air outwards.

Just looked up the cost of chillers.

How can I retrofit them into my canopy?

Just looked up the cost of chillers.

Holy excrement... The reason I looked them up is that I already have 4 perfectly wonderful MH fixtures for the 125, but last time I ran them I had a pretty serious heat problem, and it's especially hard to keep the temp even through the tank since it's a tall... that top column of water gets...

    How to clean aquarium

Well, I cleaned my 125 by filling it up with tap (needed to anyway for stress test) and dumping a crapload of vinegar in there. Drained it today (long, arduous, craptastic), and am getting the rest with towels... surely there will be some left, though, so is it okay to just let the vinegar...

    Initial fill-up?

Will it matter that home delivery would only be RO and not RO/DI?

    Initial fill-up?

It's not even that it's a rush, it's just that I feel like the water bill would be super-duper high, considering that if the unit has a 4 waste water to 1 usable water ratio, I'm putting out.... 600 gallons of water?
  15. jcattanach2012

    Initial fill-up?

How did you all do your initial fill-up? I don't want to wait a dog's age for the RO/DI unit to get to 125 gallons (plus the sump), to say nothing of the water bill involved... I'm leaning towards buying RO/DI from the LFS, it's only gonna be around 80 bucks, and considering some of the other...

    Sump/fuge design help; skimmer ID

Yes, you read that correctly. I've been out of the hobby for about two years and am setting up my old 125 reef again. I have a decent-looking skimmer, but looks can be deceiving and it's unlabeled, so I was wondering if any of you could ID this skimmer: As you can see, it's pretty big and...

    How to clean aquarium

So my tank has been sitting in storage forever, and I'm just wondering how I might clean it up... can I use a new sponge in there? I'm afraid of the rags because they've been through the wash, and I dunno for sure if there's any washing soap left on them... Paper towels? What if my razor blade...
