My question is if I put down say 25 lbs base rock in my 45 gal fowlr and then add another 20 of live rock, how long will it take to all become live and will this affect my cycle in any way, i.e. make it longer or cause a spike later? Thanks.

I have been looking for a canister filter, and the lfs recommended the fluval for my 45 gal aga. I have seen the cascade brand that is like 30-40 dollars cheaper. Is it a good canister filter or not? Anyone that uses it, pros or cons would be great. Thanks.
