    Bumble Bee Goby

Please what is the truth about Bumble Bee Gobies? I've read so many conflicting views. Are they freshwater, brackish, or saltwater? If brackish or saltwater, what salinity should their water be at? Thank you

...injuries but usually still eat and are active, however they die sooner rather than later. In my experience 80% of wild caught mandarin gobies will die very soon. Unless you see your Lps training their fish to accept frozen shrimp or have a large copepod culture don't buy your fish at that...

    Natural Cleanup of Deceased Fish

As I mentioned earlier, probably a long-spined urchin (Diadema antillarum). I don't have any experience with the green or citron gobies, but I have one black and two yellow clown gobies. They're probably the friendliest fish I own, and are almost always on display... whether it's perched on a...

    45 Day old 125 (non-drilled) tank.

I agree w pegasus. Some gobies will eat prepared foods but you have to plan on that not being the case.

    45 Day old 125 (non-drilled) tank.

Live sand has bacteria in it but not the critters the gobies eat.

    45 Day old 125 (non-drilled) tank.

Diamond gobies are sand sifters and should be introduced to a mature tank (6 months or older) so there is plenty of food in the substrate. Green spotted puffers are not recommended for novice hobbyists. That leaves the scopas tang, which should work nicely.

Does this list look ok for fish ideas

Hi, The books do say that once in a blue moon, they may eat other food... it is not the norm. Sand sifting gobies also starve without fauna to feed on, but once in a while you can get one that eats fish food. If a fish is known to ONLY feed on a special diet, I go by that recommendation, and not...

    New Build

...I presume), then you know it's more difficult to keep a small tank than it is to keep a large one... right? As for the fish, I think clown gobies are perfect for a small tank. Firefish do well in small areas too, but are known jumpers, so a covered tank is necessary. Egg crate works good for...

    Goby Questions

The yellow watchman isn't a sand sifter so not so messy. They dig but don't cover everything with sand. The diamond gobies are messier. They take mouths full of sand and filter it through their gills pulling out food. Mine doesn't cover everything with sand the way I've heard they can but...

...overabundance of nitrogen gas that if released all at once will wipe out everything in the tank. That is where sand sifters like star fish and gobies can be of use in the aquarium. By them doing there thing and moving the sand around little by little all day long. It will release the...

    Just a few questions

Clown gobies would be great for your tank. They're small, cute, and quite comical. I have a pair of yellows, and they seem to have bonded. They eat out of my hand, perch on the rocks, or stick to the side of the tank... somehow. Completely non-aggressive, but will stand their ground. Ask my...

Clownfish - please help identify illness

...close. There are certain movements that fish make when they get close to the goby that seems to trigger a response. Fish swimming around the gobies doesn't seem to bother them. It's when they get very close, and usually pause sideways next to them that initiates a defensive reaction. I have a...
