Thanks... I spoke to the lfs, and he basically said the same thing about them taking a while. He also thought it was a good sign he is picking at the rock and glass, and not to worry too much unless he stops showing those signs that he is searching for food.

Update.. I'll post some pics when I get a chance. The tank and inhabitants are getting happy. The nit. cycle went like clock work, exactly what was expected, happened within the right time frame. Had a small amount of diatoms, and a little hair algea at the end of the cycle, cuc quickly wiped...
