    Need some eel help

Tessies get 5' forget that idea. With Dragon's, Fibby's, Brazilian Dragon's you will run the risk of them attacking other fish. Zebra's pretty much stay out of sight all day until feeding but do get some nice size. All depends on what he wants. If he's wanting eel as the main attraction then...

    How many T5's for an 8' 240g?

So if I read all the above right, your recommending the 16x54 HO T5's for now with the plan to possible upgrade to LED's when they hit the market. I'll get almost as much as 4 x 250W MH's without the heat issues. Correct?

    How many T5's for an 8' 240g?

I'm just getting SUCH conflicting info from the LFS and the web. ________________________________________________________________ One place said T5's are not any better than PC's and I should just add a couple of MH's. Another place said PC lights are on the (no longer carry) list and will be...

    How many T5's for an 8' 240g?

Per some of my other post I am taking the first steps to convert my 240g FOWLR to a reef. I need some things cleared up about lighting. The tank is 8'x2'x2'. I am current running 8x65w PC's under the canopy. I want to start off with some soft corals: Xenia, Colt, Kenya, shrooms, etc. Then move...

Need Livestock advice - Price Check (NOT FOR SALE HERE)

I've decided to undo my 240g FOWLR, sell all current livestock, and reconfigure as a semi-reef tank with large shoals of Chromis/Damsels and my Dragon moray. What I need advise from everyone here is.....I need sanity checks before I start selling all my livestock. I realize these pets are...

Help me convert my 240g from FOWLR to Reef

So after doing some reading I might just go all T5's to keep the temps down. Was just looking at: Ice Cap T5 Prewired T5 Retro with 660-009 Ballast w/ 4 - 48" bulbs Maybe 2 of these would work, one for each side of the tank.

Help me convert my 240g from FOWLR to Reef

So I was thinking 4 MH's (one over each panel section / opening), then either T5's or VHO's Actinic's around the front and back the length of the tank. So that would be 8 - 18" bulbs. Now the question is who make's good MH's and how much wattage to use? Retro fits would work correct? Then T5's...

    Two DME's in a 240g?

I'm hoping an 8' tank will keep the aggression down but I might try a BDME instead. Better to try it with a $200 eel. I've started a thread in the Reef section I'll be going slow but I will keep you all posted to my progress. Hopefully by the fall I'll be a 2 tank guy.

Help me convert my 240g from FOWLR to Reef

I've kept a SFE,White Eye, Banana, and Dragon with smaller fish with success. My Dragon has eaten 1-2 fish when they were fish introduced but has also lived for over 2 yrs with a dozen or so Damsels without touching one. As your willing to take the risk it can work. See...

Help me convert my 240g from FOWLR to Reef

OK, now we can get started. First off I KNOW I need to upgrade my lights. I'm thinking 4 MH's surrounded by Actinic Blue T5's. I need to know how many, set-up, watts, and/or good brands. By the way I currently have a canopy on this tank with an open back. So I can use a retro fit or remove it...

Help me convert my 240g from FOWLR to Reef

OK, after my overnight revelation I'm ready to get started on the converstion. I want to make it a Reef that can also support my Dragon Moray eel. So keep that in mind as we go.
