i have some brown and green stuff growing on my sand is that a good thing or bad thing? Its just on the sides not on top of my live sand. How do you know if your liverock and sand are dead???

thanks for you quick reply.. My other question is how long do you acclimate a new fish? Because when i get fish i just let the bag float for atleast half an hour then slowly put water in the bag and leave the fish their for another halfhour. Thus stress create white spots too??
