You've probably read this many times...weaning a fuzzy dwarf off live food!

UPDATE: After many failed attempts, we started stocking up on ghost shrimp (& gut loading them) keep Ryuk happy until I was ready to try it again...as my patience isn't all that great..! The little nutter decided on his own to start eating frozen foods. It's only day 3, but he's eating...

My dogface has some weird bumps on his body. What could it be?

Here's a picture...he only started looking like this today. They were more dark/bumpy looking before meal time. They went down a bit. He's acting normal and eating his food. All water levels were okay, except for nitrates. We did a 20% water change and will check the levels again later.

Thanks! I didn't think to try squid legs on him. I have squid for the fish, but the puffers don't seem too keen on it. I shall try it on the fuzzy. :) Thanks for assuring me that it'll take patience. I've gotten good at making the krill/silverside look alive, just wish he would appreciate the...

You've probably read this many times...weaning a fuzzy dwarf off live food!

We've had our fuzzy for about a month now, I've fed him a ghost shrimp and starved him for about 5-7 days...he didn't fall for the krill. So we bought some more shrimp, released them from the net for about a week. He knows they're coming from the net & they don't really move when he goes for...

What to do about fish when away for a week.

The In-Laws are flying in and we're taking a car trip out of state for a week. I'm all fine with it, except when it comes to the fish! My hubby's co-worker has agreed to feed them every other day, when I usually feed them everyday. We have a porky (yes, yes, I know they're bad with other fish) &...

Saw these 2 new puffers at my LFS

The porcupine did looked like that, but perfect L shape. Was disgusting that I ended up walking out from the discomfort I had from looking at the poor thing. Thanks for the info on the dog face, we have one and I love him so! Our own dogface's teeth were sorta long when we adopted him, but he's...

    I'm getting a 750 gal...need ideas!

I admire the fact that you chose to have the responsibility of caring for an aquarium this large! I could never do it. My hubby is impressed as well and would like a large aquarium someday, but would never let him buy one because he won't even take care of our 90g. He had agreed to care for it...

Saw these 2 new puffers at my LFS

From far away, I was like wow, cute puffers! Then, I got closer and they were shaped weird. Do some puffers go through an awkward stage while growing, such as being in bent shapes or do they keep the same shape throughout growing? The porcupine look like someone took it by hand & bent its rear...

Moving overseas - what to do with fish

Indeed. Personally, I would feel guilty to kill perfectly healthy fish just because of a move. There's always someone who is able to care for your pets, just need to look in the right places!

Try putting an ad in the paper or at the store...surely there's someone who would be interested.

    ? aggressive fish

Try finding some big hermit crabs. We bought 4 thick shelled hermit crabs in June for our tank. They range from 3-4 inches in size. We also have 2 puffers & 2 lions in the tank. None of the fish have pestered the hermits yet, but our fish are well fed too. We only managed to find these hermit...

Dogfaced puffer has bite marks by mouth

So I am usually the one who feeds the fish, I always feed them separately as a safety precaution for their own good. I wish my hubby would think the same...he thinks it's awesome that the fish fight for the food, until our dogface got bit when our porcupine went and took the food out of his...

Dog faced puffer accidentally scratched by lionfish

Thanks for the speech! I don't mind a little advice/info. I do keep that kind of stuff in the back of my mind...We started out with the dogface in May, then hubby wanted to add more. Porky's been in there for a month, so far all he's done is look as if he's made friends with the dogface. The...

Dog faced puffer accidentally scratched by lionfish

Thanks for the reply! Sadly, we'll be out of town until Sunday night...so hopefully he'll be okay when we get back. I always get worried about our puffer, he's the eldest one in there. I kept staring at his eyeball for a half hour and figured I would see some sort of hint of a scratch, if his...

Dog faced puffer accidentally scratched by lionfish

Hello! I'm very new here, didn't know where this topic would go, so sorry if it's in the wrong place! I was just now feeding our fish their usual meal, when our V. lionfish accidentally dropped his silverside meal, so our dog faced puffer went to snatch it up. They didn't fight, but our puffer...
