Daniel--LOL, it's not... i think i'm being too picky by wanting something acrylic--around 150 gallons (happy to go 30 gals either way) 6 ft long with drilled overflows. oh, and of course cheap. i think i'd be better off buying lotto tickets :)

I can't really comment on different types of filters because i use live rock, a deep live sand bed, and a protein skimmer. As for rock, sand, and fish...I hate rules of thumb, but here are the rules of thumb...if you want your filtration to be primarily from the rock and sand... minimum of 1...

hey, i tried it for a while (i put xenia in my invert tank) and rather liked it... the problem was when one of my crabs decided to eat it it produced a truly foul smell and i'm not exactly sure what it did short term to water quality. i didn't loose anything, so i guess it couldn't have screwed...

I've been researching this a bit and the problem is really that the dwarf seahorses can only eat baby and small pods...so, to really ensure pod success you need to be able to house the mid-to larger size seahorses. So...your very small tanks are out. I think something like what chevytrks is...

Did you ask him about price for the tank only? And as for the acrylic--I was looking at the 120 for a while and he said he'd buff it out before selling--i'm sure if you told him you want to see it buffed sooner rather than later he would. And the stand is shot? It needs the one door replaced...

i'm assuming also your 20 gal is a seahorse tank? so nobody can be relocated into that? if not you might also want to try posting this in equip/diy...maybe someone there has an interesting thought or two on this subject...

I'm not talking small--I'm talking big--like if you have a plexi sheet the width of the tank wedge it down into the sand bed and let that support it--you don't have to silicone it in because you don't care if water flows through--you just want it secure enough to keep the eel out! or--an old...

Do you have any plexiglass or fiberglass screen/egg crate? You could try making a makeshift barrier to at least segregate the puffer from the eel.

hey all...i'm currently cycling a 3 gal eclipse nano at my office. i'm retrofitting in a 13 watt 50/50 pc bulb and it's got a cc bed and about 4-5 lbs of live rock (taken straight out of my reef/invert system)...the numbers are already testing at zero (after one week)...but i want to play it...

Yeah, be careful...it's going to be heavier than you expect. When I added my 2nd 50 I needed to lift my 50 gal reef about 2 inches vertically and 2 feet horizontally (from one stand onto another stand). I removed almost all the water and most of the rock. My boyfriend and I did it together...
