    Good Test Kit ?

That's the one I use as well. Everything is fine, but my nitrates always came out high with the kit. But after taking a sample to LFS, they were not as high as the kit said. But overall easy to use and fairly accurate.

    flame scallop

I have one as well. I have had it about 3 months. I try to direct the phyto solution directly into its mouth. And it seems to be doing fine. I got it free from this place I ordered my sand and rock from, so nothing invested in it but food. It does like to hide though. I tried numerous times to...

    newbie fish question

I agree with jwtrojan, the clown triggers need lots of room to roam. And they are very territorial, that's why you should only have one per tank. I don't think you should put horseshoe crabs in a 55 gal either. Even if they are small to begin with, they need lots of room too. Most SW hobbyists...

    Better or Worse

I chose #2. I like alot of caves and openings for the fish to swim thru. It looks like #2 gives alittle more room.

my first poll (lets see if I do it right)

I thought that the frozen food just had a little water added to make it freeze in the cube shape. I did not know it was a chemical. Are you sure? :notsure: I guess I can check the package when I get home and read the ingredients.

    Need advice on additions... ideas?

Some other cleanup crew are the Turbos. They will keep your glass clean of algae. And don't forget hermits. I like the scarlets. Their colors are bright and they don't tend to fight as much as the blue legs. They are good to get scraps of food and debris. HTH -C

Just getting started and need advice

Welcome to the boards!! You will find a wealth of info here. I learned more here in 1 week than 6 months worth of trips to the local fish store. I agree with Leopard, chose your fish first. And another thing to consider is the cost of the components of the tank. A 100 gal tank will have more LR...

    uv sterilizer

I had a UV sterilizer when I first started my tank. It did help with the clearness of the water. But later when I added some filter feeders I took it out of the tank. So far my water has been fine. And this was 3 months ago. And my filter feeders look alot better too. HTH -C

    Id please, if possible

From your picture it looks like your critter is a species of mantis. Have you seen the body? I also bought some rock from Fiji and acquired a little critter that looks like him. After I stayed up one night and caught a glimpse of his body, and posted a few more pictures, it confirmed it. HTH -C
