    Too many Mushroom Corals....

"Slice them off your rock" As in take a razorblade to it and paste it onto that plug? Or do you mean chip off my rock and glue the piece of rock to that plug? Cuz if its the chipping of the rock thing I would prefer not to... If its the slicing them with a razor blade.. What happens to the...

    Caulerpa

The first few years I had my tank it grew on its own from the rocks and it never got out of hand. Maybe once a week i ripped some out. Then for no reason at all, all of it died and i havent seen any since. I think it was around the time that i switched salts that it died. Anyway, I'd say...

    Need advice on Metal Halides

I upgraded to MH a year ago and i just bought my first replacement bulb. I had a 10k, but i decided to get 20k this time. I personally think its a bit too blue and i might go for something less next time. But then again i do have two 95 watt vho actinics with it. If you buy mh bulbs from...

    Pressure gauge for RO unit

I purchased the Pure-Flo II ro/di unit. It did not come with a pressure gauge so I bought one seperate. I just wanted to know if I put it on the fill line before the water enters the unit. Also the directions for this unit are vague and I was wondering if it is necessary to empty the water out...

    Water quality and RO units

Hi. Where to begin. I have had a reef tank for many years now and my towns water quatlity has always been suitable as is. But due to frequent breakouts of fecal coliform in the water supply my town has been forced to add chlorine to the water. And they will be adding it for the next year and...

    Dirty Sand.

I have a 3-4 inch (varies in places) sand bed. Its a fine sand I think .5-1.5 mm grain size. For circulation I have two powerheads which I dont remember the name but made by Hagen. I think they stopped making the model I have. Says powerhead 802 on the side. One of them is the return on the...

    Dirty Sand.

Its a 5 year old 46 gallon tank. Its a yellow watchman goby and he used to sift the sand around his cave but now just sits at the entrance tasting anything that floats by. I know my lfs has fighting conchs and occasionally a cucumber. I do have some blue leg hermit crabs, i used to have...

    Dirty Sand.

Was just wondering what would clean the surface of the sand. I have a goby but he is so lazy he waits for me to feed him. The surface of my sand sometimes gets ditritus build up in the corners and sometimes hair algae and brown algae growth. I usually have to clean it up myself sucking away...

New pics, no more cloudy water.

Just realized why the pictures are so dark. My new camera has this feature called D lighting. Inside the lens is this pupil like thing and when it is light it closes a little so the picture doesnt come all washed out and when it is dark it opens so the picture isnt dark. It scared me at first...
