Torn foot the end of the road?

Carpets splitting? Got a reference? Maybe atlantic carpets, but I am not aware of any reports of hosting carpets (S.hadoni, S. gigantea, or S. mertensi.) splitting. It seems that I have heard through a grapevine of 1 host type of carpet splitting, but I have never confirmed, nor do I remember...

    Hosting Clowns

depending on the type of anemone. ... With bubbletips, I have had 100% success with very many of my TR percs in the bucket method. I put the anemone in a 5 gallon salt bucket with 4-ish" of water, add 2 small percs.. Within 5 minutes they host. Then I try to release all 3 into the tank at once...

    How much lighting?!?

Normal output isnt going to cut it, but PC/VHO will be OK on shallower tanks. IME the green BTA prefer a little less light than a rose BTA. I have seen greens shy away from halides, wheras Roses thrive under STRONG halides (but they can do well with less)

Has anyone kept an anemone more than a year?

There are different types of carpets and some are easier to keep than others. S. Haddoni are the easiest of the carpets and many people have good success. A lot of research is needed before obtaining an anemone. Bubble tips are much hardier and easier to keep. Especially if you can get a...

Maroon Clown hosting Pink tip anemone

condilactus (Haitian) anemones are not a natural host for clowns since there are now clowns in the caribbean. Not many clowns will use a condy as a host, but maroons seem to be the exception on occasion.

    I want another clown !!!

I agree, Maroons are some of the most aggressive clowns. Especially toward other species. If you want another, I also recommend a SMALL maroon. Even then, maroons are extremely tough to pair and the female may end up killing her potential partner

    Clown feeding my Anenome

it is great to see the clown feed the anemone, but I think the clowns are usually just grabbing the larger hunks of food before the other fish have a chance, and they take it to the anemone and say ... "here, hang on to this for me.. Ill be back in a second (after I get more) to eat it " .

    Want another clown

As Sula said, make sure its a much smaller perc than your existing. You will see some aggression. Maybe not right away, but soon your female will show aggression to establish dominance. It may get very brutal, but IME, percs arent quite as brutal and the lil guy will be OK.

    BTA- how to feed

the chance of hosting will always be hit or miss. Percs (IME) will usually find a host. The perc may find something larger to host in for now, and if thats the case, she will not likely leave her host for a new one (after your BTA gets larger). The anemone will move until it finds a spot that...
