Hi everyone! At a dollar a gal. it won't take very long to pay for a Ro/Di . I Put mine in last September. I really like not lugging 5 gal. bottles home from the LFS. I put my sump in the basement, makes my water changes really easy.

When my rock started, it went white to light green to purple. Just give it some more time, it will purple up.

I also was looking in to sand. I went all over to get samples. Bad time of year to look for playsand in Illinois, but I found paver sand at Home depot - about $4.oo a bag. It passed the fizz test real well, but might be dusty, rinse well. good luck!

first time posting,buti just got back from homedepot and did the vinegar test. it bubbles real good. from what i know about limestone it is real dusty. iam going to rinse well and see how it looks.
