    How rare are they?

There's a very wide range of prices depending on the pattern on the clam and of course the size, but here are some estimates. BlueGreen Teardrop Maxima ~ $200-500 Black and White Maxima ~ $400-600 Blue Squamosa ~ $400-1200 (IF you can find one) Ultra Grade Electric Crocrea ~ $40 Here's some pics...

    plates

Any coral can safely touch others of the same species. I know fungias and cycloserises are ok touching each other also, but I'm not sure about heliofungias touching fungias or cyclos.

My experiment with Heteractis Magnifica start today!!

So the experiment is testing whether or not you can keep the anemone alive? I admit I've put anemones into almost brand new tanks and did fine, but you can hardly call this a viable experiment if you're serious.

    riddle me this on ph

Post your Ca and alk levels when you get the chance. The buffer adds to the alk and can be a problem if it's not watched carefully. You may not even need to add the buffer. Take a cup of water from your tank and stick it outside for 15 minutes. Then test the pH. The cause for low pH is often...

    Monti Cap becoming a bowl

I think the point that they're trying to make is that detritus shouldn't be collecting on the cap if it's getting a lot of flow. You may also consider using filter bags at the end of your overflow to catch some of the detritus.

Do you really need to thaw frozen food?

You should thaw out and rinse frozen foods. Otherwise you'll be adding a lot of phosphates to your tank. I rinse everything with the exception of gelled foods. Thaw out a cube of mysids in a cup of water and test the water for phosphates. It'll be off the charts.

Average lighting cycle amoung swf forum members

I believe it's actually been 4 hours and 58 minutes. Anyways, I can't really say what's going to happen in the near future with your tank's lighting schedule as I don't know what has happened in the near past. I run my lights for 10 hours if that helps any.

I'll have to pass. I don't want to be responsible for so many people's corals. I can forsee a lot of problems if they die. Thanks for the thought though, guys and gals.
