Syria... To bomb or not to bomb, that is the question.

And I do remember when Condi Rice was making the case for WOMD, her showing images of them being transported in semi trucks. They had actually pinpointed one of those trucks. It was so many years ago that I don't remember the trucks destination. But I can still remember the data she was...

Syria... To bomb or not to bomb, that is the question.

I honestly think that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. It seems logical to me that they were snuck into Syria. If you remember during that time, the UN kept telling Iraq that they were going to send inspectors in on certain dates (well in advanced) to look for weapons. That's...

    My 33 Gallon tank

I got my Red Glass Cynarina in today. Totally happy with it! I think it might be my new favorite coral. I added a few shots of it, and of my tank.

What do you mean they "didn't have sweet tea?" I thought Florida was the South? How can you drink tea without sugar? I will drink hot tea with honey. But iced tea.. come on! You gotta have sugar in that. I'm talking like at least 3 cups a pitcher.

I can see why some of those things work. And if it's not broke, don't fix it. My dad always done freshwater tanks while I was growing up. Back then he used tap water. But he's said that the quality of water has greatly decreased over the past few years in a lot of areas (they are adding more...

Yeah, don't go into debt. But say you are looking at something like a skimmer. And you can go with Skimmer A, b/c it's $20 cheaper than Skimmer B. But in the end you might decided you should've went with Skimmer B and spending more. The bones of the saltwater tank, I'd get the best I could...

    My 33 Gallon tank

I just ordered a "red glass" Cynarina lacrymalis from this site. I'm hoping that it will be what I'm looking for. I've spent all day googling them, and from what I can tell, that is the scientific name for the one that I am wanting. I'll post a photo when it gets here. Hopefully on Thursday...

Maybe a red doughnut (or is it button?) coral. I might move the brain coral to spot #1, and put a coral like this in the brain coral's spot. I love the color, and it kind of has a bubble coral look to it as well. I think the proper name is "Cynarina lacrymalis"

A lot of people make their own. There is lots of ways to do it on google. Just don't use anything metal, as metal and saltwater don't mix. But I know some have made lids out stuff as simply as window screen framing. I can't make one for my tank until I get rid of my HOB protein skimmer...

    is my coral dying?

I'd probably just give the coral time. Make sure it's not in too high of flow. When I first added my frogspawn to the tank, it looked like that, and took several days for it to fully open. But if it looked fine before the fall, it's probably just readjusting now. Some of my corals kinda of...

    My 33 Gallon tank

So I was wondering if maybe some of you could give me suggestions about some corals that would work in my tank. I'm wanting this to be mainly an LPS & soft coral tank. I added the red circles and numbers to the photo so maybe it'd be easier to understand what I was talking about. I don't know...

Do you have some kind of mesh lid to cover your tank? I've swore that I won't add any more fish to my tank until I add one. I had a beautiful coral beauty angelfish that I was really attached to, & he jumped out of the tank. It's pretty upsetting when one does jump out & you didn't realize it...

dosing calcium. never done it, just want to make sure im doing it correctly.

So 12 is a good number to be shooting for when dealing with alkalinity? I just started really testing it in my tank. I had been keeping around 10, but wasn't really sure what the best number was.

I'll be around tomorrow. Several of the users on this message board are at a national convention for the hobby this weekend, so they may not be able to respond like normal. But if you aren't testing your water, I'd for sure invest in some tests, and start learning how to do it. The other...

To be honest, I test everything but magnesium. From what I've read online, if your calcium and alkalinity are good, and corals are growing, you are probably fine. I will eventually invest in a magnesium kit, but the ones I've found are a little bit more pricey than the tests for everything...

Welcome to the board! I've only been doing this hobby for 9 months, so I will let some of the more experienced posters answer a lot of your questions. I do know that they will ask what you are testing your water for, and what those readings are. (i.e. Salinity, Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite...
