    floor support's?

Are the joists going underneath the tank and if so, how many... Or are the joist running horizontal with the tank (this isn't good) It looks like you have a silent floor setup... If so, I have the same, mine has laminated plywood 2X4's with the middle glued wood... this is suppose to be some of...

How do you keep your tank cool?

I don't run any chillers or heaters. I have a heater in the refuge, but I can say that I have never seen it on. Reason for above is that I have a 4 tonne air conditioning system on the house, so with that and house heating I keep the house at a constant 20-21 Celsius... My tank is also at a...

    metal halide question

I personally use 2X250W Ushio 10K in my tank... It is 5 feet X 30 inches X 30 inches... These bulbs are great looking and work well with my ballasts and lighting fixture. Here in Canada, these bulbs are only $80 each I also agree with the others, you will need minimum of 250W in order to try to...

How do I de-clump my salt

I would think that the bags were not sealed, so the salt is most likely contaminated. I personally would throw it out and buy some new salt. WHY TAKE THE CHANCE!

    Tang List

I agree with the others, way too many tangs. I run a large tank (300G total) also, and I have the following: - sohal tang - yellow tang - blonde naso tang - blue hippo I would maybe suggest having one yellow, and then adding up to 3 more only

    Who runs moonlights?????

I run moon LED's since the beginning (4 BLUE LED's), they don't seem to bother any fish or inhabitants... But the nice things is you get to watch your tank at anytime, day or night. I wouldn't go without them.

    Potters angelfish

They are rated difficult because you need to get them eating... If you want one, make sure the LFS feeds it in front of you, don't take it if you don't see it pellets, etc. I have had mine for over 1 year, with no issues. And I agree a very beautiful fish.

    Reef Safe Triggers

really no trigger is considered "reef safe" it is all by trial and error. Some people get luck with niger's, my opinion I wouldn't really try it but if your heart is set on a trigger (because they are beautiful fish). They say and I have friends that have blue throat triggers in there reef with...

    UV Sterilizer

I run a 36W UV on my 300G total setup... I run it 3 hours on and 3 hours off, alternating. I have found my water clear, have lots of LR in both the Refuge and the DT, so I have never had a problem with pods. But again I don't hook the UV to the return pump, I have it in my sump area with a small...

    Metal Halide Bulb Question

I have the same light, as all ballasts are different, bulbs will also reacte differently due to the ballasts... Believe me, this is true, for example, I bought Phoenix 250W 14K bulbs and they flickered quite often. I just replaced last month with Ushio 250W, and now they run perfectly, and I...
