    Refugium Question

Justpeachy, where are you located? Before you spend $ on macros, you may want to see if there are local reefers that need to harvest.

    Refugium Question

I believe mine is: Callithamnion aka Cotton Candy Algae I know some people dread it, but I don't find it to be that terrible and it's only in the fuge so I just leave it be.

    Branching montipora bleaching

I think your tank may be too young for SPS. I would establish some healthy soft corals, then LPS, then SPS. Definitely start testing alk mag and phosphate

Green Bubble Anemone under rock ledge

They usually move on their own and trying to move them usually ends in disaster. What lighting do you have? Have you attempted to lure it out by feeding? How old is the tank?

Banded Coral Shrimp. Is this for real?

Yeah, something isn't quite right with that guy. My thought, since it's in the LFS is that shipping stressed it out.

    African Leopard Wrasse Pair

Very nice! I used to have a male. It's my understanding (and this could be wrong), that they're sex is their sex and it doesn't change like some fish can (like clowns). That being said, there are a few people that claim they've seen fairy wrasses change sex, so I guess it's possible. Yours...

    Branching montipora bleaching

I tried replying to this last night, but it kept freezing up on me. What are you phosphate, alk, ca and mag readings. Digitata is usually very hardy. The only times I've ever had an issue with it is when the alk is too low, or too high, but usually it's a low number that causes rapid bleaching...

    Refugium Question

Gracilaria will starve without some sort of iron. I've learned this the hard way a few times. They also like light, and I don't think your light is cutting it for them. I've learned to treat my gracilaria like a SPS coral in regards to lighting - intense. Different flows didn't really matter...

    Branching montipora bleaching

Parameters? Lighting? (I'm assuming led, what brand) Are we talking about montipora digitata? What kind of flow in entire tank? I'm assuming you didn't QT this coral or dip it? It's probably not the case, but you may want to look up info about montipora eating nudibranchs

What brand coral foods do you feed?

Fish poop! Lol But seriously, fish poop really can be a fertilizer of sorts for coral. My 180 gets 1 cube emeral entree and 1 cube PE mysis every night. Occasionally we skip a night. We also feed different colored macro algae sheets and fresh macros from the regugium. Nutramar Ova for SPS, but...

Starting a ten gallon saltwater tank

What sand did you use to start?

    Help!

Those fluval nanos are cool tanks but very hard to keep clean and get good circulation which doesn't help with cyano. I always recommend doing those tanks with no fish or one very small fish that's fed a small amount 1-2 times a week. If you do out a fish in one, you will have more issues.

Starting a ten gallon saltwater tank

I prefer ghost feeding over the raw shrimp for cycling. Especially if the live rock is already cured

    Is Chemipure OK?

It essentially polishes the water. Yes, you found the word I couldn't think of

Starting a ten gallon saltwater tank

Put the live rock in now. Live rock really should go in before the sand, but since you already have the sand, really make sure those rocks get set in well so they don't shift. In the new hobbyist section, there are recommended threads for cycling a tank, etc.

    snails and hermits

Really?  Wow...never had that trouble before. Yeah, never survive for me. In multiple tanks, too :-/

Connecting Frag/Grow out tank to Main System

It's definitely made transfers easier. And the Apex is wonderful! Luckily we have the same lighting (or one tank has 3watt LEDs and one has 5watts - but similar if nothing else). The chalice frags really like the pods. They grow much quicker, because even if I forget to feed them, they get...

    snails and hermits

We only keep scarlet reef hermits (Pagueristes cadenati) for this reason...they really do tend to leave your snails and fishes alone, and our fishes leave them alone. Every time we have ever attempted to keep scarletts, they die :-(

Connecting Frag/Grow out tank to Main System

Do you not find a risk in the combination? Tank crash, infection, etc? That would be my only concern. Is there a way to control the salinity and temp on bothe tanks without the combined approach? There's definitely risks. But we've just had better luck. My frag tank can be shut off from my...
