Nice Forum and Community you have here

People might think I am nuts but after talking to the folks at my LFS, I went with a Flame Angel (Dwarf Angelfish). Obviously I will be following it closely for aggression towards tank mates and soft corals but everything else about it seems to fit what I want.

    Stocking Advice Please

I would be fine with one tang and of course love purple, but read about them being tough. I would set up a 20H or 29 gallon for QT. I want some bigger fish but realize the foot print can be an issue for anything 9-10 inch. I could substitute the purple for a yellow tang and drop the butterfly...

    Stocking Advice Please

I don't really se too many issues. Definitely the butterfly first and you want it comfortable and eating very well before adding anything else that might out compete it for food. I'd avoid the powder blue tang. Very territorial as is the purple. You could do a powder brown or a kole tang...

Reed safety of a flame angel

Has anyone every kept a dwarf flame angel in a reef system? I have soft corals only. I'm just wondering if there are accounts of it working out as I hear they are reef safe with caution. I hear coral beauties are ok sometimes too.

    Anthias

My question was answered long ago, but quills bought the fish. On the Angel subject, I've had a flame for probably 3 years. Probably a bit over 3" long was about half the size when I bought him. He's one of my original fish since I restarted my tank, has gone through 2 upgrades, never...

Side story: The yellow tang was a "gift" from my brother in laws LFS. He was in real bad shape from being picked on. Almost no...

I know just enough to hurt myself and some fish...

Oh so many rookie mistakes: 75 gallon with skimmer, sump, refugium, flow, auto top off, and LED's at 76 degrees. So I basically poisoned my invertebrates by dosing my display tank with copper after seeing a few spots on my fish. I didn't know about the copper invertebrate relationship until...

    New 36 gallon bow front.

One dwarf angle should be fine. They sometimes nip at corals so if you see coral in your future it is something to consider. My flame is great, never touches anything he shouldn't but I hear that can change at any time. If you are looking for the blue color the coral beauty is a great...
