    RIP Ernie

My little buddy passed on this morning. He had a good life, was big and fat, but in the end he convulsed a few times and joined Davey Jones (the sailor not the singer). Ernie was a Caribbean Blenny with great markings on a mottled brown/off white body...small specks of red and blue in his...

    colored sand as a substrate

your corals looks very nice indeed I have to admit, the black is somewhat less dramatic than I had thought it would be. Is this one of those cases where in person is much different? Thanks for the image! (by the way, how do you post images? I tried the above linking icon but it did not offer a...

plants going sexual...got to keep them separated

Greetings! The subject of macro flora is a recent hot topic. Take all pieces of advice in stride, with a grain osalt, and do your own research before making your choice of type or syle of use for flora. There are many members on this forum who have VAST experience using macros as exporters of...

    colored sand as a substrate

Thanks for the bump. I have black sand on the way. It would look most cool I think. The real issue will be the texture and grain size/form. I do not want a coarse grain for my sand sifters. Ray

    colored sand as a substrate

Ok I looked into this process and the color is baked into the sand grain itself, bonding it. No color fading. I have samples from the two best colored sand companies to put them to the test. Kinda interesting thought even if it is not about corals or other such. Kinda cool. Ray

    colored sand as a substrate

https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/112156/3ft-golden-head-eel-4-sale This is a SWF thread found in the aggresive tanks section...red sand. Is this safe for reef tanks? Does the color ever leach? If it does not, the black would be most cool...almost everything would gleem against black sand...

plants going sexual...got to keep them separated

Just an observation... I have dove alot in my life, 750+hrs bottom time, 30+yrs snorkling, and an equal amount of time crusing tidal pools and coastal zones all around the world. Pristine waters of Cuba, Belize, central Pacific, and the great waters found off of Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Key West...

    Florida live rock

Well my friend, if the shelled member is a bivalve you are fairly safe. I know of no predatory bivalves. They are a defensive creature by design. If a a whelk or cone shaped shell, then you may have issues. Can you provide a photo or a photo reference? Do google cross check and post an image...

plants going sexual...got to keep them separated

Greetings all! This is not a he said she said thread...it is a simple question with I hope a simple answer. I have a pair of fuges, because I needed separate tanks for my species only members (octo and mantis) and I figured a pair of 20gl that are inline with my bow front 46 would provide a...

    Florida live rock

http://www.jaxshells.org/track4.htm If these are what you have, they are the most common surf clam there is, in the USA. They are completely harmless, and in fact are great diggers and filter feeders. They will breed freely and will not harm anything. If you have an octopus or mantis shrimp...

    Mantis Shrimp, where to find?

Sorry my friend I did respond, like 10mins after I got your email. It must have been absorbed into the aether. I responded with a few questions. What size, coloration, and species? I do appreciate your offer. :) Ray Boemler www.peanutbutterjellyfish.com
