my royal gramma dart at him sometimes,but has never to my knowledge touched the firefish. What about a product like melafix for the open wound. It is safe for all corals and inverts. I do not have a hospital tank, and even if i did I couldnt catch him

yes it seems to be an open wound and red in the middle, but just white around the edges. it protrudes a little bit. It is strange that it is on both sides. Almost like there could be somerthing in there.

I have a somewhat aggressive royal gramma in my 50 gallon and would like to add a smaller sixline wrasse that is on hold foor me at the lfs. Does this sound promisisng???

my purple firefish has what looks like a large open pimple at the end of his body on both sides. it is an open wound and protrudes out a little. any ideas what it is or how I could treat it?

my purple firefish seems to have a bubble under his skin. there is one on each side of him in different places. they are only about 1/8 of an inch in diameter and appear to be right under the first layer of skin. The bubbles do not seem to protrude very far though. anyone have any ideas???

I had the excact same guys free swimming in my tank for the first few months. They slowly deminished as I added my percs, and now there arent any swimming free. no threat at all. Just as NM reef says, it is a good sign for your system.

mine has receded for a few weeks once. My water was fine though. NOt sure why they do this for long perods of time sometimes. Most of the time only a few days. I would not worry about a week yet. just keep an eye on the flesh and the stock for any signs of decay. It should be fine though
