i found some pics of what it resembles and that was turf algae. some time in the night a hermit crab must have at it. there is still a couple of other small spots i can watch . thanks for the time and sorry for the let down.

definately not a majono and not a feather duster. i can't find any pics of one and it is green and about 1/8 tall of the sand

its not hair algae. it looks like a coral but highly unlikely thats why we are calling it a "plant"

in my tank I have a plant like growth coming out of the sand... so decided by my wife and I... tank has ben running for a couple of months. we use good water from walmart. 50/50 light. have some live rock, two peppers and some crabs.. any ways bla bla bla ... to the point this growth looks like...
