    New pics of 120

Not the best pics but here are a couple of my tank at 1 week old. The tank is built into the wall. It sits 40" high. I designed it so we can put a couple of bar chairs under it. From where you sit you can either watch people play pool or look at the fish tanks.

    Another refugium question.

Yes, It is a 120. I am going to post some pics soon. The move went smooth. I lost a brittle star right away and I was not able to keep the red tree sponges alive. Otherwise things look great. He did not have a lot of corals. 3 anemones a couple leather corals and another type of finger...

    Another refugium question.

One more question then. Is it better to use the water from the middle of the tank as they suggested? Will it make a big difference if you used only returned water which is technically just skimmed off of the top? My tank only take off surface water. (That was two questions.) My tank is in a...

    Another refugium question.

I don't know the proper way to do this but this is the text that I got my information from about plumbing the refugium. "Time to make a point! The water entering the refugium should come from below the main tank's water surface not from the overflow, if so equipped. Why? Surface water is skimmed...

    Another refugium question.

I have a 125 and am setting up a 120 reef. I have a 29 bow set up that has fish in it for my 120 when it is ready. I have been reading about refugiums and I read it was best to use the water coming directly from the skimmer. True? I currently have an Oceanic 6 that sits in my sump for my...

Need help ASAP with 120 setup. DSB and skimmer boxes.

I have a 120 gal tank with two built in skimmer boxes in the back. My problem is that I am making it a deep sand bed and the sand covers the holes in the bottom. Anybody have a solution so that the sand does not plug the holes?

    Aquariums breaking

I am setting up my 120 on a stand I built myself. On filling it for the first time I found that I could slip a business card underneath 6 inches in the back. What are the chances that this will cause my aquarium to crack or break? I would like to hear from anyone that has had an aquarium...

    Sump question.

I am in the process of setting up a 120 gal tank. I am getting a 30 gal tank to use for the sump. My other tank has a sump that was divided into two part that allows me to put a filter between my skimmer and the out take pump. Can I leave the tank open or is it a good idea to divide the tank...

    Advice for my 120

I am lucky to have a large room behind the tank. The sump for my 125 is already there. I will have access from the front and the back. I like the idea of having both tanks in the same room but at different heights. My cardboard scale is very close. What I did not show is the thickness of...

    Advice for my 120

If you are looking at my 125 you most likely see my 3 rose anemones. They take up a big part of my tank. I am anxious to get the 120 set up. The tank does hang over three inches but should not be a problem. Once I build the frame I will use two sheets of 3/4" plywood for the tank to sit on...

    Advice for my 120

I am putting in a 120 gal that is 4'x2'x2'. I am cutting a hole in my wall and I am building my own stand. I built this cardboard mockup to see how it would fit in the room. The tank sits 17" from the wall and is 40" off of the floor. We have a couple of bar chairs to sit and look at the...

Is my clown fish hurting my anenome?

It does look like it leaves white marks. I will keep a close eye one it. This anenome came from a friends tank and I was not planning on keeping it in my 125. When I first got it, it had one tenticle that was twisted on the end. One day the twist was gone and several other tenticles looked...

Is my clown fish hurting my anenome?

I have three rose anenomes on one side of my 125. I have 2 maroon clowns that spend most of their time swimming around them. I also have a greenish long tenticle anenome (new to my aquarium) at the other end of my tank. It took a couple of months but the clown fish found it. I noticed that...
