I've heard people talking about true perculas and false perculas. I am interested in gettig a percula but what is the difference? Is there just another fish that looks the same as a percula? how do you tell a true from a false?:notsure:

If i start with calcium corbonate and live rock in my tank, will the live rock seed to the sand? Or is it a different kind of bacteria?:confused:

Wyang76 Yeah, the only difference between live rock and base rock is that the live rock has life in it, the bacteria and organisms in it.

This is what farm store in my city carries as far as calcium carbonate. It says Calcium Carbonate right across the front and i did the vinegar test but the part that worries me is that on the back it says "Calcium Maximum Guarantee 39.8%" is that something that sould worry me? It just sounds...

If i go with somewhere between 50 and 80% base rock how long should i wait to add fish? Will the 30-50% live rock be enough for it to live off of for now or should i wait until more of the base has come to life?

Okay my life-in boyfriend and i have been researching saltwater tanks. We've read that you can use a combination of live and base rock so that you dont have to use all live rock which is a little more expensive. Appoximately what should our live rock to base rock ratio be?
