I have a FOWLR 55g, i am wanting to add maybe a few corals, and anamone, for my clowns. Not doing it right now but in a few months and really would like veterans of this hobbies opinion. Right now i am using a 48" Flourescant 50/50 light (50 Daylight/50 actinic 03 bue).

I'm with ya fshhub i think something else is up but more like faulty reading i never seen anyone say there ph was that high. I would buy a single high ph test or take it to the LFS, even though it is 2hrs away it may be a drive worth doing.

my LFS says it is usually the best way to go if your not going to buy a RO/DI filter system, or some type of tap water filter system. I have heard that well water is better than the city/county water services since they add so many chemicals to the water system.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a normal or a best place for a hang-on protien skimmer. What i mean is should it be on the same side as my intake to my mechanical filter or should it be to my output of my mechanical filter? Right now i have it on the same side as my output but...

I was thinking maybe a ph buffer. That would bring it up and hold it for awhile. FYI pH builds naturally during the day from photosynthesis. CO2 build up causes it to drop. Low or no surface break can cause it to drop. Also a tank with a tight fitting top. Your pH will be lower just before...
