Word of advice... Listen to the locals! :D Books are helpful... experience is invaluable! I personally have seen Nasos for sale in my LFS that are near 10". The sizes you have noted are WAY unsizing it.

What about your SG? My skimmer was doing the same thing, and my salinity was way low. Brought it back up, and the skimmer was back to normal. Check that.

Totally puzzles now. This LFS is well known for their expertise, more so I only work with the manager who has been into reefs since they became popular in the homes years ago. He assured me this was enough light, which confirmed what the other LFS had told me. I'll head home during my lunch and...
