SWF.COM Ordering Discussion pulled from Show off your tank(s) thread

I was thinking about trying reefs2go. Their prices are good and they have a lot of free shipping deals, but I've also seen a lot of negative reviews about them getting orders wrong and items arriving cold and dead. I may try them anyway when the weather gets warmer. I used to order things...

SWF.COM Ordering Discussion pulled from Show off your tank(s) thread

This site, actually. The catch is you have to order $59 of stuff from the free shipping store, then everything in your order is free shipping. Sometimes that number changes but it's been $59 every time I've checked for a while. https://www.saltwaterfish.com/category-free-shipping-store...

    Show off your tank(s)!!

I heard they're great algae eaters. I'm really not a fan of them but may give it a shot. I'm coming up with a list now for my next $60 order for free shipping (otherwise shipping is $40...yikes!). I'll probably get more emerald crabs but they're far cheaper on ebay. With shipping they can...

    Show off your tank(s)!!

This isn't showing off obviously, but it'll be my "before" pic. It looks more like a refugium after being neglected for quite a while since I was thinking about tearing it down. Finally got my pumps going again and got some T5's. Getting ready to get more live rock and a wave maker on the...

Nassarius snails breeding and turbo eggs

I'll see if I can get one tomorrow when the lights come back on. They may bury themselves again but I'll check in the morning. I heard nassarius are hard to breed since they have a swimming larval stage that gets sucked up by the filter. I hate to say it but my impellers were both broken on...

    New 75g Reef Tank

Speaking of LED, Current USA Orbit Marine LEDs look incredible with all kinds of lighting effects. I recently ordered a T5 quad for my 75 gallon but now I'm wishing I went with LED. Cooler and cheaper to run, and people are claiming their corals are thriving. Nice setup btw.

I also have no idea what my avatar is. I haven't posted here in quite a while. I wasn't even born in 1961. lol

Nassarius snails breeding and turbo eggs

Well, I sort of let the hobby slip for a while. I went to siphon the substrate a couple days ago and wondered why it was so clean. No clouds came up like they used to. When I was done, the bottom was crawling with nassarius snails. They were probing around all confused by being sucked out of...

I haven't done a water change in at least 5 years, and only have a Fluval 404 canister filter

When I got into this hobby I heard how high-maintenance it was. Constant water changes. Water tests. Sumps. Specialized foods. I basically got the idea that you had to keep up with this daily as if it was so delicate that if you sneezed on the tank, it would die. I've had marine fish for...

    killing ich with high temperature

I just found the name of the product I used to remove the copper. CupriSorb . It looks like little gold "bb's" that turn green when they've done their job. After the snails survived I was relieved that I didn't have to replace all my rockwork. I eventually added more live rock and will never...

    killing ich with high temperature

Luckily if he used copper there are products that remove it from the tank. When I was fish only I dosed them with Coppersafe when ich was a major problem. I had people tell me that I need to replace the entire tank and everything in it before adding inverts like snails ever again. I put some...

Ordered snails from this site and got a bunch of empty shells...not happy in general

I did let a little water in the bags before releasing them, and the live ones are doing fine. Neither the hermits nor snails were shipped with water. I guess that saves money on shipping costs. At least one of the hermits has made use of a small nerite shell. I thought it was a snail but...

Ordered snails from this site and got a bunch of empty shells...not happy in general

Quote: ^^BTLDreef, you don't sound like a jerk. Just misinformed. Here's a quote from the instructions SWF included with my order pertaining to my inverts, that were shipped without water: "Some bags may not contain any water. Some species of invertebrates may be shipped without water...

Ordered snails from this site and got a bunch of empty shells...not happy in general

Also, I'm trying to stay postive that the wrasse will bounce back. It is active and pecking around (I have a lot of bristle worms and pods), so hopefully it will be able to fight off whatever's making it itch. I hear moon wrasses are hearty fish, but shouldn't be kept with shrimp and clams. I...

Ordered snails from this site and got a bunch of empty shells...not happy in general

I really don't want to throw in the towel, but I just don't know where else to turn. I guess making a 2 hour pilgrimage now and then isn't that bad. I just hate city driving and when you get there it's a gamble as to what they'll have. As I said my other orders were great, but that was more...

Ordered snails from this site and got a bunch of empty shells...not happy in general

Well, I used to order from here from time to time and was always more than satisfied. The fish were healthy, the inverts a good size, and no sign of disease. Back then if you ordered I think $79 worth of stuff shipping was always free. The good old days... So, I get an email saying they have...

What can I get that will eat worms and not snails?

Out of all those they appear to be bristle worms. I see they're harmless, but I guess they'll make good food for my lunare wrasse that just got here yesterday. Cute little guy. On the thin side, but he's pecking at stuff I can't even see all over the tank so hopefully he'll fatten up. Doesn't...

What can I get that will eat worms and not snails?

I tried to get a pic, but it didn't come out too well. The worms are about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch in length, white, and have "fringe" around the sides. I'm not sure how else to describe them. The clown fish are actually afraid of them. lol I see this site has a sale on lunare wrasses right...

What can I get that will eat worms and not snails?

I've got little white worms all over the glass in my tank. Bristle worms? Sometimes they swim around, but I mainly see them on the glass. I hear arrow crabs like worms, but I also hear they're not safe with snails. What about some type of wrasse? Like a lunare wrasse? Or would they eat...
