Feather Dusters need no special lighting since they are filter feeders. You will need to pick up some special food for them, I feed mine once a week and I can tell it really helps because I have tons of little dusters all over the place now.

I have a feather duster that just recently threw his crown. He grew it back but for some reason his tube is starting o decay. The tube is falling apart, it is like a clear really brittle tube now. Anyone know the cause?

It is. I've gone to two different stores and both have a seperate tank that holds saltwater. After I went to both fish stores I tested and everything came up clear.

When the water starts to smell you should def. go to your lfs and get it checked out. Its hard to tell what to do, check your filter and everything. See what your lfs says.

If you can tell that its not algae its most likely waste. Get like 15 or more blue leg hermit crabs and that should do the trick. I had a lot of that (small pieces of brown waste) and I got 10 blue legs for my 12 gallon, and within a few days the sand was clean. GL

I live like 30 minutes away from West Palm Beach on the east coast. I highly doubt you could catch them unless you had some major tools. Plus I don't even know if they live there.
