    Tomato Clown Compatability w/Tomato Clown

I have one mature/large Tomato Clown and I am looking for tank mate(s). I am tired of Grn. Chromis. Please see my tank desc. that should be below. The Tank is very well established and could handle a much greater bio-load. Please reply if you have added a smaller Tomato to the tank of an...

    "Sparkletts" RO/DI H2O

Does anyone use "Sparkletts" Drinking Water for top-off and water changes? I hope to. It is filtered through RO and/OR DI. The problem is that "taste improving minerals" are also added. These taste improving minerals are: Sodium Bicarbonate, Magnesium Chloride, Calcium Chloride and Sodium...

    RO Unit and a Well

Is anyone out there using a RO unit with a well. I am concerned about the unit's continuous use of water running my wells dry. Can the RO unit be turned off when not in use? Do these RO units use lots of water? Approximately how much for a unit that produces 5g per day. Thanks.

    Hello/Look Down Fish

Hello everyone, I have not logged on in for quite a while. My LFS has found a connection for "Look Down Fish". In case they go by different names, they are about 5inc in diameter, very thin, and bright silver. None of my books describe this fish. I assume they will need a large tank, and they...

    ID Question

When I came home today I found a 1/2inc red worm? of sorts swimming quickly around my return pump in the refgium sump. When I cought it looked a little like a centipede. It is a good swimmer. It must have bee born from existing LR or LS bc I haven't added anything to the sump in awile. Any Ideas?

    DSB sifter debate.

This question is pending in the Fish Discussion Section under "live sand", but I though I might receive more info here. It started when it was suggested that an un-sifted 4+inc DSB would release toxic gases after 10+mos. Here is my last post (slightly edited) and my question: There appears to be...

    Blenny questions.

As I recieved a surprise blenny in some LR I purchased over the weekend I have some questions about it. I believe that its a banded blenny. Is this the same as a lawnmower blenny? It is eating hair algae and something off of the LR. It bites the LR then spits out what it doesn't want. By the...

The LR of numerous surprises. Suggestions requested.

I just returned from my LFS with what should be my last piece of LR for my 46g w/20g refgium sump. And guess what came with it. First, about 3-5 hermit crabs of unknown variety. I spotted these at the store and put a few into the sump. Very cool. Second, and most alarming, what I believe to be...

    Clown and Seaweed Selects.

Will clownfish eat Seaweed Selects? If they do I guessing they would eat the green kind, not the red, is this right? Thanks.

    Water changes w/out Nitrates.

How often should I do water changes when the nitrates never rise? And what percentage of water? I did a 10% change last month and unless it's inadequate I will probably do the same this month. Thanks.

    Finally, pictures of my tank!

Please check it out. My friends like it but I want the views of actual saltwater fishkeepers. If the address doesn't appear below or in my profile, here it is: http://marineqa.homestead.com/fishpage.html I built the sump about a month ago. The tank is about 3 months old. The caulerpa has grown...

    Use of new skimmer?

I finally selected and bought a skimmer. It is a venturi sump model made custom by my LFS rated for a 100g tank. It has worked amazingly well. I did not know how clear water could actually be. I have a 46g FOWLR and another 11+ gallons in a reefgium sump. 4inc LS in sump, 4inc LS/Southdown sand...

    High ph in QT tank?

My 10g qt tank has a very high 8.6+ ph. I believe this caused 2 chromis to die during the three week qt time. With daily 40% water changes I never allowed the ammonia above .25 but with the high ph the ammonia must have been very toxic. I understand that there is nothing in the qt to buffer the...

    Grn. Chromis Foods

I wanted to alternate my 3 quarantined chromis food from flake. One seems tired of it. What other foods would they like?

    Does LR/LS need light?

I am not concerned about the appearence of the LS/LR, just its ability to work as a biological filter. Or if LR requires light, would LS alone require light? I plan on using LR rubble, LS, and caulpera in my sump, and I am still trying to determine my lighting requirements. I have read articles...

    Biological pump neary installed!

I got a great deal at my LFS today. I have set up what I believe to be a great sump on my 46g. Forget my other post titled "Cheeeesy sump". I believe I've done it right. I took a used 20g high tank and put two plexiglass partitions in. One partition will be used for intake through a "sock" of...

    Cheeeesy sump idea.

I welcome every one to point out every flaw they can think of. I have never seen anything like this, probably for a good reason. I understand that this is not ideal, but it uses equipment I currently have. THE GOAL: To get all possible equipment out of my main tank. Specifically, I want to set...

    Automatic feeding systems?

Has anyone had any experience w/automatic feeding systems? My work takes me to the other coast from time to time and I know few people around me whom I could trust to feed fish. I have seen the disolving type, but they seem sketchy. I am new to sw fishkeeping so I plan to get hardy fish that...
