Go to the hardware store and get some pvc. I don't know if you will find the correct size though. Don't use silicone, it won't stick to acrylic. You might be able to glue the pipe back together with weld-on, but only if it's a clean break.

On a healthy tank, the only thing that will smell is the skimmate, but if you keep your collection cup cleaned regularly, it won't be a problem.

You are gonna have to get grounded timers. They are like 8 bucks at good old Wally World. I would agree with Birdy.....you need to get the nutrients, (phosphate, silicate, nitrates) out of your tank. Are you using an RO unit?

Just an idea, but I was getting false readings from a lousy test kit I had. (probably expired) I got a new test kit, and realized that was the problem. Also, I agree with everyone, if you have CC, vacuum it like you would a freshwater tank.

Strips of squid always worked for me. You may want to try some gut-loaded ghost shrimp to entice him/her as well.
