    How much would you pay?

I'm ready to buy some lights for my reef tank. Looks like I'm gonna be out about ~$500 for a halide/T5 setup... BUT... What about LEDs? Is the solaris worth $1300? Never change a bulb again. No water heating. No timers. Seem to good to be true. SO... The questions are: 1. Are LEDs far...

    Wet/Dry vs Canister

Guess I'll just go ahead and put the dividers in. Is it just a divider or a baffle? I'm guessing the left side would just be a 10" divider and the right side would be a baffle to remove micro bubbles. Any rule for baffle separation?

    Wet/Dry vs Canister

That link was just want I needed to understand the overflow box. Been thinking about the flow rates and was wondering what you recommended for an overall refugium flow rate? Looks like two options for overflow boxes are 300 and 600. The 600 adds and extra inch behind my tank which isn't a big...

    Wet/Dry vs Canister

Alright. Sorry for all the questions. Here is my latest updates based on your advice. Need a couple of ball valves on the CSO and return pump to match flow rates. Once everything is stable how do i guarantee the sump doesn't overflow when the power goes out? I'm guessing that the CSO level...

    Wet/Dry vs Canister

Got it. Sounds like the best answer so far. One question though. Why can't you plumb straight from the continuous siphon overflow directly into the skimmer? From what I saw they do like 600gph or so. Just wondering the reason. Thanks for all the help

    Wet/Dry vs Canister

Little block diagram of my latest idea. Question of the night is this: Any issue with having the skimmer external to 15g fuge tank? Any chance for this guy to malfuction and spew water all over the floor?

    Wet/Dry vs Canister

Here is what would make my life so much easier. I can fit a 10g in my cabinet. I could take the output of the continuous siphon output and connect that to the input of the skimmer. Then the skimmer output into the fuge. Is there any good reason that the skimmer is actually in the fuge tank...

    Custom Refugium (Glass / Acrylic)

I'm trying to fit a skimmer/fuge under my 50g corner tank. Its going to look something like this. Is this something that could be constructed by a novice like myself with glass/acrylic from home depot? Which is easier to work with? Thanks for the help. - Nate

    Wet/Dry vs Canister

theappe: I'm guessing your HOB filter only contribues to nitrite and ammonia break down. If you have adequate natural filtration you will be ok. From what I've learned the last few days the fuge should help the nitrate issue. Back to my little quandry: Here is an updated diagram of my fuge...

    Wet/Dry vs Canister

Here is a absolute maximum dimension of the setup my cabinet can hold. Once I get a better idea where the baffels should go based on skimmer/ pump I can get a quote to see how much the custom route will cost. Based on these dimensions what skimmer is the best fit? Any suggestions on where the...

    Wet/Dry vs Canister

Ran into a pretty big snag. I can't get any refugium to fit under my 50g corner HOB really isn't an option because the tank is so close to the wall. Almost seems like a DIY job and thats probably more than i can tackle. Is there any chance I can have my skimmer stand alone (i.e. not in the...

    Wet/Dry vs Canister

Wow! Thanks so much for the picture and the skimmer recommendation. I found another site with many more options for the acrylic fuge/sump and I think one of those will work quite well. Need to check dimensions when I get home to make sure it will fit under my 50g corner. I'm pretty sure I...
