    Vacation

I'm leaving for a 4 day vacation. I do have someone who will come in and feed my fish but I was wondering about lights. Will it hurt them if the lights aren't turned on? Also, I have quite a bit of living rock. When the electricity goes off, my filter quits working and has to be manually...

    Horned Blenny turned dark

Beth, thank you. My Blenny died a little while ago. I didn't know to take the filter material out after it had been off so I probably killed him. The other fish seem to be okay as are the inverts. I have living rock and sand in there so as of now, I've emptied the filter of all it's...

    Filter Question

Tim, thank you for answering. I have 10 lbs of LS mixed with 50 lbs argonite plus approx. 20 lbs LR and some base rock. I was wondering too if I can fill up the filter with LR pieces or do I need a much larger area for that to work as a refugium?

    Filter Question

On my 29 gal. I have a HOB AquaClear70. It has the foam filter, the activated carbon as well as something they call a biomax insert which looks like ceramic peices. I also have LR and LS in there. It is in the process of finishing up it's cycle. My question is, when should I clean out all...

I've been cycling my 29 gal.(20 lbs lr, 12lbs base rock, ls w/white argonite sand, about 3 inches deep ) for almost 3 weeks. I seeded the argonite with about 3 lbs of ls from my 5 gal nano. My parameters are as follows: NI 0 NO3 3. AM 0 PH 8.4 I noticed that there is some brown algae on the...

    Need help, fish died

The tank had fully cycled and I realize I had too many fish in there which is why I bought the larger tank. Actually, the fish hadn't been there a week yet. I do have about 10 lbs of LR and LS. I use RO water for top offs and re-fills. I'm really confused.

    Need help, fish died

I have a 5 gallon nano tank which has been up and running for about 8 weeks. I had 5 blue legged crab, 2 peppermint shrimp, 2 snails, 1 Narcissus and 1 Turbo and 2 blue damsels. I'd had the damsels for about 1 week. They seemed to eat well and looked healthy. I bought a 29 gallon yesterday as...

    Water Change Question

I started my Nano tank using Real Ocean water. It came in a big box with a heavy plastic insert. It claims no nitrates, no phospate, and a ph of 8.3. I also have LR and LS in my little 5 gal. tank. I still haven't bought a test kit but I'm going to do that soon. Have any of you used that...
