PRIME and other reducers, DO THEY WORK??

I have used prime for years in freashwater tanks, and I think it works great (had an overstocked chiclid tank). vtfishies is right though you do not want to use it on a regular basis as if there is no ammonia or nitrite in the tank it will then deplete the oxygen. One thing though, it only...

    RO units?

I am curious as to what to look for when buying a RO unit, should I get one that also deionizes as well? Also how can I tell if my water pressure is high enough to not need an extra pump? thanks for any advise

    Lost All Fish

Depending on what type of lights that you are running adding the glass top would trap the heat and cause the water temp to go up to high. If this is the case try adding a fan to vent the heat from the lights away from the tank.

    Oxygen

Any surface agitation increases the gas exchange whether it comes from a airstone, ph, filter, and it is mostly preference as to which one to use. Air pumps are generally loud and airstones can clog. Plants increase oxygen with the right lighting, and they will reduce nitrates.

    Wavemaker?

Did not know about the policy against links like that so I took it out. Thanks for the info I just thought it sounded like a decent deal since it was about $20 cheaper than buying all the componets separately. But I was also wondering what flow rate I should be looking at for a 75 gallon tank.

    Wavemaker?

I am currently shopping around for all the equipment that I am going to need to setup my 75 gallon tank. I came acrossed a maxi-jet wave maker combo, it comes with three heads and the wavemaker. My question is how much flow will I need and are wavemakers really necessary? Thanks

Thanks for all the info, I will definitely leave out the cc. I guess that I was lucky with the nano and had a great lfs to give advice on how to care for it, cyno was the only problem that I had and but it was quickly resolved per their insturctions. As for the lighting I would love to add MH...

    Not necessarily new but.....

I am new to this board so I would like to say hello all and thanks for any info you may give. I used to have a 15 gallon nano which I had great success with. It housed mainly zoos, ricordia, and mushrooms so I have a decent idea of how to keep a reef tank but only on a level this small. I want...

    Phosphates......

I went through a bad cyno outbreak in my 15 gallon nano, and this is what my lfs recommended that I do. Add this supplement http://www.**************.com/Produc...&N=2004+112990 Use a short siphon to suck up as much of it as you can with minimal water loss on a daily basis. I found using just...
