I picked up this frag at my LFS. All the clerk could tell me is that they were Zoa's. I was wondering if there was a specific name for these particular ones. I did my research and I know the feeding requirements and lighting needs, I just want to know what they are called for later if I decide...

That is an algea of which I cant place the name. It occurs often in new tanks and in tanks with high phosphate levels. It should clear up but if you wish to remove it use a NEW soft-bristle toothbrush and brush it away. I had it in my tank when I first started but it went away in about 2-3 weeks.

That appears to be coraline to me.

Are actinic lights necessary photosyntheticly. Or are they just for adding blue hues to a tank. I am upgrading my lighting and was wondering if I needed actinic or if 10k's would work fine. I plan on adding corals and at least one host anemone for my clowns.

Thats what I found in my research. Do some LFS call this goby a wrasse? If so that may be where the confusion started. If I was to get a rainford goby it woud be long after the tank was established. Especialy since I plan to run the tank without fish for about a month after the cycle is over...

It was suggested in a previous thread that I get a "Court Jester Wrasse" for my 35 gallon tank. I cannot find any fish with this name the closest I could find is a Rainford's goby. Does this fish even exist or should I just get a 6 line wrasse?

I wasn't thinking it was bad. I was wondering; 1. What it might be 2. If anybody else has observed the same thing in their tank(s). I have many good hitchhikers; several featherdusters (small red ones and larger pink), lots of pods, and a either a cup coral or a psudocorynactis not sure just yet...

The inverts come as part of the total package of LR and LS I plan to buy. I guess I could place some of the hermits and snails in my ten gallon since there won't be much of anything in there.

It could be a hitchhiker cleaning out its home, it would be a rather large home as the pieces are at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch in diameter. It looks similar to a gorgonian. I'm pretty sure its not because this LR is not aqucultured and any would have been removed before I got it. Will try to post...

My LR seems to be shedding. What appears to be falling off looks kinda like a red branch with white spots. Onlt one piece is doing this. What could it be?
