need a replacment pump for my skimmer

I had the same problem as you with my sedra 2500. So after it broke I decided to upgrade to a sedra 3500 on the ASM G-1skimmer and it works much better now with the bigger pump. You will need some pvc couplers to properly attach the 3500 to the smaller G-1 but it is possible.

    What's This???

I got a leather coral 2 days ago and it had these flat looking things on it. The store owner said it was part of the coral but they've been moving around so I don't think they are. They each have a long thin white streamer it uses to collect food with. Any idea what they are? Are they bad for...

    raleigh area

Reef Keepers Aquarium in Clayton off Old US Hwy 70 West is a great shop for corals and fish. They have a really nice setup. Last time i was there they had a shark pond too. The second best is probably Triangle Tropicals in Durham. They have a good selection of equipment and fish and there...

Yeah it definitely has a lot of dead stuff on it, my protein skimmer has been going crazy since I added it. But maybe it will help the bacteria colonize it faster

    New Base rock!

I'm sure the stuff saltwaterfish.com sells is good but i like this stuff because it comes from the beaches of Fiji and it even smells like the ocean when you get it, has lots of cool looking coral embedded in the rock. I don't think the cheaper base rock comes form beaches, its just mined out...

    New Base rock!

I just got an order of base rock form Marco rocks and this stuff is awesome! This rock is super porous and has great shapes. It only took 25 lbs. of it to finish filling up my tank nicely. Cost me $70 for 25 lb. shipped to my doorstep. I'm just waiting for the rock to cycle so i can add my...

    ASM Air Stone Mod

I was looking for a way to boost my ASM G1 skimmers performance and I came up with this idea. Basically all I did is add 3 lime wood air stones to the bottom of my skimmer. I ran the airline tubing down through the exhaust and used some little suction cups to attach the air stones to bottom...

    Fish ID

The one shown in the picture above loved brine shrimp, but he didn't last long in my tank, I asked my mom to feed my fish for me one morning and a week later when i got around to feeding that type of food again, I found out she put enough food in the tank for them live off of for a month, so by...

    SlipperyDick Fish

Ok thanks for all your help, I may try keeping one in my tank before i start putting corals in it just to see how it does. Does any one know anything about keeping belted sand fish in captivity? They're all over the reef's her in North Carolina and I think they're cool looking fish.

    SlipperyDick Fish

Has any one ever tried keeping one of these fish? I can sometimes catch them on a sabiki rig when I'm fishing. Are they good aquarium fish? Also, do belted sand-fish do well in aquariums? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Anemone ID

It had its foot dug down into the sand so all he had to do was scoop it up. I put it in a large cooler and used an air stone to aerate the water.

    Anemone ID

My brother went diving last week and found this cool anemone in the sound under a dock off the coast of North Carolina. I think it may be a tube anemone but I'm not positive. Any idea on what it is and what i should feed it? It seems to be more active during the night.
