I forgot to put the cap back on the end of my UV sterilizer before I turned it on. I had about 1 to 2 gallons of water on the floor before I had a chance to shut it off.

I can't seem to run a tank without a UV sterilized. If it's not running, within a month or so I had a damsel with something pink growing on the side of his body. I turned the UV back on and it cleared up within a week.
It's possible you may have to clean the glass that surrounds the bulb. On mine it would require unscrewing the whole assembly (not difficult) to get it out which means you want to turn the pump off and keep it vertical so as not to lose the water.
I have a percula clown that the same thing just happened. I was feeding and noticed that he was missing and I got very frustrated trying to find him. I think my tank critters must have eaten him though.
Darn then my feather duster is probably going to die then huh.. It hasn't been out since I got the butterfly..I should have done my research before buying this fish...Oh well.. Thanks for the advice!!!
I wanted to know an opinion on what to feed a coralbanded butterfly. I just gave him a black mussel and some brine shrimp and he ate that. He certainly won't eat anything flake though. Anything else I can feed him ??? :p
