    red sea nano Vs. JBJ

Hope you found it--I'm a newbee--I just want to get the right set-up to support the types of coral and inverts I want from the very beginning. I ordered a book about mini reef corals from SWF.com, but it is still in the pending status. (bummer) So, I think I will be able to "work backwards"...

    red sea nano Vs. JBJ

it is the one the is coming out Mid March. It is the 2007 28g Nano-cube HQI "The ultimate reef series biotope!" The power heads are 266gph each, and I like the idea of having two (one on each side) instead of just one on the Red sea. If you have a chance to check it out--please offer your...

    red sea nano Vs. JBJ

Thanks for the reply. I thought the same thing....the JBJ has a built-in cooling fan (3000RPM) and 150 watt HQI /14K lighting.. Also, the JBJ has a wave-maker feature. I'm just researching....but Someday....I would like to gain enough experience to get a clam! LOL Thanks C

    red sea nano Vs. JBJ

I was wondering if anyone has compared the new 07 Red Sea Max 34G nano to the new 07 JBJ 28G nano cube. I am thinking about a mini-reef. Both systems claim to have lighting for coral and come with protein skimmers. Just wondering what current nano owners thought Thanks for your opinion C

    First problem with new tank

Okay--we tested for phosphates at the store and it was LESS THAN 0.1 Ammonia .25, nitrites 3, Ph 8.4, Nitrates 10, alk 200. I drive past at least 3 4 LFS to go to the best one around--it is also the commercial tank cleaning company in Jacksonville, FL that services all the big tanks in offices...

    First problem with new tank

How do I decrease phosphates? Another water change? The LFS opens at 12:00--so I will get a test kit then, as of 10:19 EST The ammonia is still .25-the nitrites are 3, but possibly going higher-(I'm questioning my ability to see color properly because I've tested so many times in 24H) and the...

    First problem with new tank

I don't know if this means anything, but I also have a massive copepod explosion going on. Also, yesterday, when I added the biozyme--I turned off the 40watt UV sterlizer per the package instruction. I am leaving the lights off today to decrease photo period and hopefully decrease algea. I...

    First problem with new tank

THANKS FOR THE REPLY! Algea-yes, a small amount of brown stuff for the first time yesterday-seems to be more this am. What is PO4? I get my water from a trusted LFS pre-mixed until I can get my own RO/DI. I did add some fake colorful plastic coral last week, and dug into the sand bed to get to...

    First problem with new tank

This tank has been set up since Dec. 19. with no major problems..until now. On 2-16 I did regular 2 week maintence and a 30G water change. Is the Carib Sea 'live sand' worth buying?

I feel your pain....everything is expensive. I am also new to the hobby, but getting the right set-up in the beginning will save you alot of money later. I was advised to "work backwards" meaning--deciede what I wanted to keep--research it--then create my tank set-up accordingly to provide...

Is the Carib Sea 'live sand' worth buying?

I used 100lbs of Carib Sea in my 150G tank, plus I received some (about 1/2 full gallon zip-lock bag) of "real" live sand from a trusted established tank. No worries--cycled with a raw shrip in 30 days. I had copepods shortly after. Good luck C
