    T5 light question

I have a 150 some fish and some coral. Most advanced corals are bubble and frogspawn. The rest are mushrooms and polyps. I am currently using CoralLife cf lights. I have been told by many that T5's are the midpoint between cf's and hqi's. I am interested in a Aquatic Life T5 HO light. 8...

    Mystery 'coral-thing' at lfs

Thanks, the site was educational! Anybody have a guestimate of what a piece of this algae is worth? If the lfs doesnt know what it is, he might be charging to little (fat chance) or too much (more likely).

What Is It?? Rhodophyta (Halymenia) or Bryozoan???

Lfs calls this a bryozoan but others call it Red Macro, Rhodophyta , or Halymenia. SOOOOO> is it an animal OR is it a plant? Will it damage a reef tank? Whats it worth? Thanks!

    Mystery 'coral-thing' at lfs

My lfs has what he calls a Bryozoan, but my investigation leads me to believe he is wrong. The 'thing' is maroon like my mushrooms, but flat and thin. Its structure is ribbon-like without a definite shape---kind of like a bunch of ribbon on a package. It appears to have a mucus coating on the...

Bob, my hermet crab. What should i feed him

I have several small hermits and Larry the lobster in my 150. I feed them Crab Cuisine (Hikari I think) every now and then. They love it and its fun to watch the shrimp go nuts. I hope you and Bob can share the affection that I and Larry have found! (I need to get out more)

    Are Bryozoans easy to keep?

Thanks, I know nothing about them except that they are a different phylum from corals and have a complex morphology. The darn thing is really spectacular, but I think I will pass. I dont want to kill something out of ignorance. Thanks for your help.

    Are Bryozoans easy to keep?

My lfs has what he calls a bryozoan that is spectacular. It is dark maroon in color and the size of grapefruit. It looks like a ribbon that is thin and transluscent. The way it undulates in the current is really beautiful. Now the questions...What the heck are they?, what care do they need...

    Starfish problems

I have tried 2 orange linkias and both have died within a few days. Water parameters are ok. No other problems with inverts or fish. Brittle and serpent stars ok too. Any ideas? I would love to have another but I dont want to harm them. Thanks.

Chop, blend, or puree homemade fish food?

How fine should I chop/blend/puree the seafood? I'm using shrimp, squid, scallops, and clam. (Shoot, I'm getting hungry myself!).

selcon, garlic, and frozen homemade food

Should I use selcon on food before I freeze it or after its thawed? Also, if I use a garlic press to squeeze juice, how much should I use on the thawed food? (I know I should not freeze the garlic). Thanks.

Small cannister for chemical only filtration?

I think that the phosphates are coming from brine shrimp. I thoroughly rinse the shrimp before I feed, but thats the only place I can think of. I also feed zooplankton a couple of times a week.

Small cannister for chemical only filtration?

Thanks for that bit of knowledge, I wasnt aware that the flow rate was critical

Small cannister for chemical only filtration?

Thanks, I have seen the reactor your talking about, but I am severely hindered by space (behind and below) and I don't want an 'intank' filter as I already have a skimmer box for the skimmer.

Small cannister for chemical only filtration?

I have a 150 fish, some mushrooms and polyps. I have an Eheim pro2 2228 (i think), AquaC Remora skimmer and uv and I use rodi water. The Eheim has no chemical filtration and it has done an admirable job for about a year, but lately even I have to admit that phosphates have to go!! I am...
