Small cannister for chemical only filtration?

I have a 150 fish, some mushrooms and polyps. I have an Eheim pro2 2228 (i think), AquaC Remora skimmer and uv and I use rodi water. The Eheim has no chemical filtration and it has done an admirable job for about a year, but lately even I have to admit that phosphates have to go!! I am thinking of adding a small (60 to 80 gal rated) Eheim ECCO for chemipure and phosphate removal media. How does that sound? Any potential problems I am overlooking? Any ideas on a better small cannister? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the ehiem canister you posted, but a good phosphate reactor would be my choice. They're pretty cheap and real handy for chemical filtration.

probably would work fine but like mentioned b4 they make a phosphate reactor by two little fishes that works great really cheap and i run one on my 180g tank and have 0 phosphates

Thanks, I have seen the reactor your talking about, but I am severely hindered by space (behind and below) and I don't want an 'intank' filter as I already have a skimmer box for the skimmer.

I don't run any phosphate remover and have zero phosphates. I also have a very low bioload. What do you feed an how often? I'm assuming that phosphates enter your tank via feeding if you are using RODI that tests zero for phosphates.

You have to be careful with phosphate removal media as it can cause catastrophic results if water is passed through too quickly. I'd use a purpose designed reactor.

I think that the phosphates are coming from brine shrimp. I thoroughly rinse the shrimp before I feed, but thats the only place I can think of. I also feed zooplankton a couple of times a week.

How much do you feed. I feed a little brine from time to time but just enough for everyone to eat in about 1-2 minutes. Anything that settles on the bottom I siphon out. Except for cyclops which would be impossible.

i feed them shrimp 3 times a week. I also feed the shrimp and crabs 'crab cuisine' at least every other day.
