How do I clean up debris floating in water table. Having this problem with 2 tanks a 180gal and 37.

Ok i want to build refugium.. When it's done and running can i get rid of my mechanical filters( two AquaClear 30 Or do i have to keep them? I just want to get most of the stuff hanging on the back of my tank off.. Thanks

Here is a close up of the critter. It seems to come out when the lights are off and has many legs like a millipede. It is kind of zebra striped.
